Crap!
Inspector coming out today, another company coming out tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not too bad... from what I can see, it appears to be limited to my front door and door frame, but chances are it's worse. Wood sounds solid and still retains strength on the surface, but it looks like I'll be in for a fun time with replacing parts...... car is on hold.
Anybody on here gone through this before?

I bought as HUD house back in January and about 12 foot of wall had been damaged by termites pretty bad. I had a friend that was a carpenter luckily. He did all the work for a couple hundred dollars in labor and materials were roughly $300. That also included the 2nd wall we found in the kitchen that had been munched on.
Finding termite damage is like a good hit in the face but really it wasn't all that bad. The house had already been treated and those little critters where long gone.

That's why I've had a termite bond on my house since the day we built it!

Good news is that no structural damage, only cosmetic.
First quote $1325... not bad considering how much work these guys would have to do, I have an odd shaped house.. tri level with slab for ground floor.
2nd quote will be this afternoon.

If you catch them early, they usually stick to a small area and don't spread all over.
My brother-in-law found some in a house he just bought (inspecter didn't find!), and they were just in a couple peices of food in a half wall that wasn't needed and he was taking out anyway, wasn't a big deal at all.

Just had the treatment today, and they were still only by the front door. Only damage is some drywall needs to be patched by the door, and the threshold needs to be replaced.
Now I have a whole crap-load of patched holes in my floor in the basement and around my house/foundation (and a much smaller wallet).... but I would rather deal with that than an insect infested structure and the extensive repairs associated with "ignoring" the problem..
