well I got rid of the 06 g35 without breaking 33k miles on it. Loved that car as it was as closest to resembling the 2nd gen eclipse which in my imo was way advanced for its time in terms of styling. Proof? Look at the new infinit g series and altima coupes. Oh how close they are to resemebling 2nd gen eclipses. Well I bought a bmw 335i coupe. Plan to get it up to 384hp and maybe.....just maybe, mostly likely not, I'd get new wheels for it. I like how this bimmer came stock from the factory. Paddle shift, premium package, premium sound, cold weather package, every bell and whistle MINUS navigation. The paddles shift as quick as you can blink an eye.

Well, like everything else, that reminds me of a story.....was out looking for cars for the wife. She liked the BMW Z4(? I think it was). Went all the way down to Jersey (because of course the wife HAD to have a white on black). When we got there, the car turned out to be a piddle shift (obviously, I don't like them). So we took the car out with a young salesman and I proceeded to give him my car background and my opinion on the speed of the paddle shift (because he was giving me the car salesman speal about the speed of the shift etc.).

Oh course the arrogant postion of you can't shift faster came out of his mouth and the challenge was on. Well, after finding an empty industrial parking lot, we discovered that, indeed, I could shift faster than the piddle shift. In addition we discovered a few more things;

Salesmen get nervous if you talk in the middle of doing 50mph drifts while down shifting.

The piddle shift was even slower while shifting during a corner.

A salesman saying "go ahead take it through its paces, I'm not scared". Doesn't mean exactly that :order


Heh heh, yeah, all fun stuff, but seriously, the piddle shift on that one was, IMO, pretty slow. Maybe she was defective, I don't know. But it was fun anyway.

Now back your Beemer; I always loved them for cruise with a mixture of high performance. Nice looking car.

my g35 had the steptronic too, but I hated that thing and used it like twice during my ownership of it. It literally took about half a second to shift. To be more realistic, I meant to compare the bimmer's paddle shift with the infiniti. The 335 paddle shift did shift so much quicker and smoother. Less than half a second for respond time, so yes almost the same amount of time as a manual shift. I've only put 200 miles on it so far. Not enough seat time in that thing.

Nice looking car. I would have gone for the 6 speed though..

Lol, yeah, yeah, that's it. I guess the one I drove wasn't screwed up.

Badass car, I drove one for about a week as a loaner from the dealer since they messed up with the service on my g/f's Mini. You will not be disappointed sir. :)
