This is simple economics. The bike didn't sell well enough, period. If Harley could have spun the Beull name off to someone else, don't you think they would have? Nobody was buying (the bikes or the company).

i know you guys are pissed off about it and all but in all honesty, every company is doing what they can to stay in business right now. General Motors went from 9 brands to 4 brands seemingly over night because of much the same reason. I work for a Chevy dealer and it effected me in a very big way. Sad thing is, we all know that no motorcycle company, whether it be the biggest American company or not, is going to get a handout from the government like the big 3 auto companies in Michigan did.

Harley made their bikes real expensive 10 years ago to keep the yuppies off them. It was even voiced by the dealers. Problem is the yuppies have money too.

You guys can have your heavy harleys, I'll just out run ya on my bike. Yeah yeah its a crotch rocket but its fast and its what I like. I might splatter on the concrete but atleast I can say I can beat most things on the street.

I want both. I have my sport bike, and I want a harley to sit next to it in the garage, then I'm gonna get those license place rings for each. The Harley will read "my other bike's a GSXR" and my sport bike will read "my other bike's a harley". I love my track days & hill country rides, but riding long distances (over 400 miles) begins to not be so pleasant, especially since the the ass is raised 1" and the front is dropped 6mm. If it was all twisties, it wouldn't be so bad, but several hours on a freeway kinda sucks.

I did like the buell line, but guess I'm not gonna ever have one now.

With the economy the way it is and has been going, Harley has been hit hard by the recession. It is hard to rationalize such an expensive bike that is not your primary vehicle when your job could be next to get the axe. They have outstanding brand recognition but no one wants the bikes right now.

Well I hate to break it all the Harley haters on here, but Harley hasn't had a stake in Buell for years. It's owned by Erik Buell and his company couldn't make it through these times. Buell has been using Rotax and not Harley engines for around 3 years now. And even at that Buell chose Harley engines for his bikes and that's all Harley was involved in. Buell alone was responsible for their own R&D and so forth. Well I gotta go ride my over priced, bloated, fat pig ect.ect.ect. Hate on brothers!!! :rolleyes And just another pc of trivia for ya Erik Buell was Harley's head engineer forever, and that is why he's linked to Harley.

Curves too. I can outrun most cars in this area with my bike. The only one I have ever had a problem with is the 1100 horse Evo 8 running around town but it got repoed cause the guy didn't make payments. He was running 900 but got beat by a Hyabusa so went back up north to get it redone.

I haven't been to the track in WAY too long. Got a new suit and everything, just haven't been able to find the time.

I signed up for a track day at MSR-Houston in August, but the org canceled the trackday to move it to Texas World Speedway, then they didn't pay the bill for that one. Luckily I hadn't paid yet.

Now we're limited to track day orgs, the third one helped add dates and kept prices competitive.

I have two drag strips and an autocross track a couple hours a way. That being said, when timed I beat most of the cars.
