40670, it's alive finally!

sorry for not posting much lately. i've been into everything since i got home from the Navy. well anyways i got the eclipse moved to my buddies shop where i was able to drop the busted trannie and prep the other one. well luck would have it, the two forward bolt that the crossmember bolt to the radiator support completely snapped in half. i also discovered the drivers side axel was snapped as well. i got a extractor kit from a friend and started working on removing the broken bolts. well three weeks later(i'm not kidding) i had no progress. the decision was made to notch a hole in the support and cut the bolts out that way. after using an air chisel to remove everything i got some grade 8 bolts and nuts from the store. tac welded the bolts to the support to keep it together. after that was done everything went nicely. yesterday around 5 p.m. my eclipse was moved under its own power in over two years. i took it up the road and it drove quite well. the junk yard trannie shifted amazingly(amsoil is the shit btw). the only nuisance was the exhaust. the catback that was on it had gotten rusted pretty bad from being in chicago and had a ton of holes. so my brother in law cut it up and made a straight pipe for it. yeah thats way too loud for me. so i'm looking for something to replace it with. i have pics but won't be able to post anything till later.

oh yeah my Evo BBS's look awesome and suprisingly the 255's did not rub at all yesterday when i went out for the road test.

now to repair the rusted strut towers and it's pretty much ready to be road worthy but far from being able to handle modifications. soon though!

thanks i was very pleased with how they looked. yeah i'm happy to be putting it back together. even though it's taking alittle more time than hoped for but i'm not going to complain because it's moving and not sitting.

Congrats, extra plus on the wheel choice.

How bad are your strut towers and what would be your method of fixing them, maybe me or others could use some advice on it.

Is that your EVO in the background, its awesome if so.

Some guy is selling an indentical EVO MR for 25,000 from akron on craigslist that I'd share.

mine are pretty bad i have about a fist sized hole on one side and another thats close to the same. my method is to actually cut out the affected area with a cutting wheel more than likely and than weld in some new metal. i will not be welding as i'm not that great at it. my bro in law is a welder and will be helping me. i will post up a thread once i'm able to start the repairs on the strut towers. Yes that is my evo in the background. it's actually my DD, so once the eclipse is whole again. it'll go back to being DD and the evo will get some much needed cleaning and rest.

well the eclipse is going into the body shop this week finally. alot of little body work but nothing really major. fixing the areas from the bodykit that was on the car and rusted strut towers. the custom work will be shaving the holes from the wing, antenna, and we're actually shaving the spare tire since it it rusted as well.

my brother in law will be posting pictures as soon as thing progress and i'll be posting them up. he's going to be doing most of the repairs.

waiting on some money to come in now so i can order a CF hood and hatch for the car.
