Who else here rides? lets see some pictures of your bikes. So i finally got my bike out, its a 2004 gsxf600, not the fastest bike in the world, but its so much more comfortable then a full sport bike that i cant complain. I dont have my d&d exhaust on yet but ill probably put it on tomorow. And i dont ride in sketchers and jeans, i have boots and pants but i just didnt put them on for this pic.

Its not you killing yourself lol, its other drivers that are the ones that will kill you. about 90% of motorcycle crashes are because the other guy didnt see you. I just think that im invisible and everyone is trying to kill me, that way you anticipate everyone elses stupid moves lol.

I'd love to get a Busa. For the price you can get a used one for, you can't beat the $$ to HP ratio. I just think i'd be one of those idiots who almost stalls then ends up in a 90 degree wheelie before busting by ass and my bike. Maybe i need a 250 lol.

Damn it! If I knew you were looking for a cheap bike I would have emailed you a few weeks back Mike. Some guy in your same town was selling a decent sport bike on Ebay for under $1,000 and it was in excellent condition. :bash

Im not 'looking' for a bike, but I keep my eyes open. I wouldnt ride that much since I have a 2 yr old son, but it would be nice to just cruise to work on....thats why I would only pay 1500 bucks for one. lol.

I have three and they are all under the age of 6. :evilgrin I scare them all the time by telling them I'm gonna strap them on the back seat and the two older ones say the same thing. "No Dad, I don't wanna fall off and die." LOL

I've gone through quite a bit of bikes, FJ600, FZR600, R1, 99 Busa, 02 LE Busa, 04 gsxr 600, 05 gsxr1k (current bike), also have an F4i in the garage that's a former stunt bike being brought back to life.
I wanna sell the 05 gsxr1k and buy an 08 600 or 750.
I also have a china pit bike (roketa) that's got a lifan 140cc motor on it.

Bigger isn't always better. A liter bike is fun, no doubt, but on a road course track, I'd rather have a 750. The 1000 breaks loose in a lean while giving it part throttle, then will wheelie while rolling on trying to straighten up.
Believe it or not, but you can begin to ride faster on smaller bikes. There's a guy in town here that rides a built ninja 250 just as fast a my buddy on his R1. My buddy on the R1 raced CMRA, although the other guy's a better rider. Of course, the guy on the 250 is pro-level, and has several titles, but it proves my point.
**EDIT** Adding pic. That was from my last track day, july of last year.

Very true. Back in '96 I was racing a CBR600F2 Supersport (sub 400lbs wet, 116 hp - pretty respectable numbers back then) in both the 600 and 750 classes. Ended up 5th in the 600 class and 8th in the 750 class nationally. I was always top ten in the bigger class, and pissed the 750 guys off to no end. ;)
|
40297, RE: Who else rides bikes? Posted by cougar694u, Jun-09-09 09:46 AM
What's crazy is my 1k is something like 360 dry and made 153 hp.
116 is quite a bit out of a 600, though, even today.

With you on it? lol! My brother could run 9.40's at 139 on the busa, but I could never pull it off. My launch sucked, best time was 10.39 at 140. I weigh less, so my MPH was high for the time.

I've been trying to sell my quad for over a year since I just have no time to ride. '05 450R. The longer it sits, the less they go for. They are going for around $3k now. :( Sooo... I started toying with the idea of trading it for a street bike since at the very least, I could ride to and fro work and save the Evo some work and some GAS! My friend had this bike parked in his garage and started bugging me about borrowing my quad and jokingly, I asked him to trade. He kind of laughed. 3 hrs later, he txt'd me with the deal. It wasn't a hard decision. He is one ticket away from losing his license so he was scared to ride the bike. For the first year he had it, he got a ticket every other time he rode it. The other times he ran. I cleaned it up yesterday and for a 9 yr old bike, it's in pretty damn good shape! Couple knicks here and there, but no major scratches, dents, cracks... I'll take some better pics with a real camera this weekend. That was just a cell phone pic when he dropped it off. I also got a cover, 2 helmets, a Joe Rocket jacket and some gloves too. ;)
|
40679, RE: Who else rides bikes? Posted by cougar694u, Jul-08-09 03:44 PM

My 05 Buell, it's got a 1200cc V-Twin Sportster engine. I absolutely love it. Once I found out it holds the gas in the frame and not a big tank on the top I had to get it. Belt drive is really nice too.

Nice bike! I always liked the firebolt; brake design, oil in the swingarm, gas in frame, v-twin, etc.

That's strange. 900rr has plenty of power to wheelie in stock config. I know from personal experience.
|
40798, RE: Who else rides bikes? Posted by 992gnt, Jul-19-09 01:52 PM
The super short wheelbase makes them twitchy and wheelie-prone on the track. At least that's been my experience.

They actually do look pretty sweet, it's about time they redesigned that pig. It's still kinda heavy for a 250, though. I thought about buying one for my wife, but it weighed close to the same as a gsxr600.

LOL..I guess they take turns like a mother EFFER but any sport bike like 600s 1000s would destroy a 250 overall.. 250s are beginner bikes or gas savers

when a road has curves, it isn't only about who has the bigger engine. then rider skill actually matters, and most people who buy sportbikes don't have these skills. Most people buy sportbikes as a form of penis enlargement, and to look cool in their tank tops and shorts. so they fly through the straights and almost come to a standstill when it actually comes time to turn the bike.
I saw a rider the other day, in a tank top, on a newer GSXR almost come to a full stop to turn left at an intersection, and almost run wide off the road because he didn't know how to turn. All I could do was shake my head.

CopperEclipse96 meet Boosted_Talon98....

lol thats pretty funny...IDK maybe its different where you live..theres only like 15 20 sport or super bikes around where I live.. Yeah mostly kids but they can ride..The closest interstate is atleast 30 miles. We have crazy mountain fronts. I will admit it is very dumb not to wear atleast a jacket though. I think the dumbass people on bikes around here is probaly the cruiser bike harley style guys..there always drunk trying to outrun the cops or something

AKA = Squid. They're fast in a straight line, but zero turning skills.

One of these douchebags took me out at a National event. He wasn't even supposed to be on the track, I came around him on the outside of a turn, gave him 5-6 feet, and I was just cruising (it was my first lap of practice). He freaked when he saw/heard me, stood the bike straight up and t-boned me in the middle of the turn. He got towed back to the paddock, loaded up, and went home. I had to scramble to find a new clip-on, replace the brake lever, and figure out how to ride the rest of the day with a bent fork tube. Went from a podium finishing bike to 12th place. Oh, I was riding a 600 and he was on a 750. Later the same year we were both at a regional event. I started near the back of the 30 bike 750 field on my 600. Every time he got to a straight he would pull a wheelie. How cool. I lapped him TWICE in an 8 lap sprint race and I finished 4th.
Point is, he had no business being on the track at either event. Most sport bike riders have no business owning what they own, and Copper hit the nail on the head perfectly.

That's why I keep losing displacement, bigger isn't always better.

I haven't done a track day yet, but am already thinking about looking for a track bike. An sv650 so I can be in the lightweight class instead of the supersport class if I decide to start racing at all. I hear a lot of bad thinks about the supersquid races.

Like shooting fish in a barrel... if they don't take you out that is!
