39599, Which cell phone? Posted by eclipse982nrRST, Apr-13-09 06:57 PM
My wife and I are both getting some new phones this weekend since we are elgible for upgrades. We both have the Motorola razr's right now and they have been good phones for 2 years. However, we both text a lot and do a lot of talking we would like something touch screen and we are through AT&T carrier.
We are not looking to spend a shit load here either, so...
We are looking between these two phones and I was curious if anyone here has one or knows anyone with one who would care to share their thoughts about the phones.
The LG VUE or the Samsung Eternity.

if you're eligable for upgrades, that means your contract is 3 months from being up or already is up. If that's the case, what keeps you from staying with at&t? I have alltel, and its the best IMO out of sprint, att, cingular, suncom, etc. i've had em all

Samsung's TouchWiz interface isn't half bad for being on a dumbphone. Coming from a RAZR I would suggest actually sitting down with one for a period of time as touchscreen typing with no tactile feedback is going to royally fuck you up. On the plus side, TouchWiz does support T9 texting with word prediction like you're already accustomed to on the RAZR. Plus it's not a RAZR. :7
Edit: I'm not a huge fan of LG's user interface on any of their phones. A lot of it seems counter intuitive to me.
Edit2: If you're looking to step up to data phones then I would suggest getting away from AT&T but from the sounds of it a regular phone like the ones you mentioned should be fine.

Mike, if you think the RAZR has been a good phone, you will be blown away by anything else. RAZRs are trash just like anything else Motorola has made in the last 6 years.

I'm with Mike on this one. I had a RAZR for 3 years and it was a stellar phone. Hacked to high heaven and reliable as hell. :shrug

I currently use a RAZR v3 as a work phone. Menu layout is terrible. It's slow when trying to run through the menus. Phonebook is atrocious. I could go on for a while. They aren't good phones.

Now, I'm speaking strictly from a business standpoint, but, I wouldn't want any Phone/PDA aside from my BlackBerry. It is by far the most useful phone I've ever had.
