I came across this in the Tradestation forums and would like to have your opinion from a different audience. I think it is very racist but if the facts are true it is quite eye-opening.
BUCHANAN TO OBAMA By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Blacks should go down on their knees and thank God they are Americans.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??
Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving ' white kids. Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has exceeds 60 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3% of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45% percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common since 2001 than white-on-black robberies?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

I agree 110%. This is in no way racist. That is the problem, whites have been called racists for so long, facts can not even be presented without being called racist.
White Amrecians ARE the silent majority.

So... it's racist simply because it was written by a white person??? Just like I must be street racing everytime I'm driving to work, because I have visibly have big brakes and a big exhaust.

This is not racist, but it is misinformed. All those statistics are most likely correct. The problem is that blacks have been stuck in a system of poverty since slavery was abolished. If you did up a little history, and read a few books, you'll see how the whites all moved to the suburbs, while poor blacks stayed in the inner cities.
The way education is funded in this country is that most of the money comes from income tax. Since large communities of poor blacks didn't have much income to tax, the schools are shitty. This cyclically fucks them over and over. The schools are horrible meaning they can't get a good job and make money. They can't get a good job and make money so, in turn, the schools turn out shitty.
This is why black crime is way up in this country, and education levels are way down. Affirmative action is NOT a solution, just a band-aid. What we need is more and equal funding to education in this country. That's when things will truly be fair.

I wholeheartedly disagree... I'm a 6'4", 200+lb, florida cracker (i.e. very white, pale complexion = curse of northern parents) and went to an inner-city black high school as part of a magnet program whose population is 85% black, 10% white, 5% other. This is ofcourse in South Florida, which is arguably one of the leading 'melting pots' in our country, which itself is one big melting pot. In another words I have experience and stick out. Therefore, I must say that while I don't know where you come from or know your background, but down here you'd be full of crap.
I would urge you to do a search on Bill Cosby, easily one of the most well known and succesful black people in our country... and learn what he thinks about his heritage and the state of the black community today. If a white person had said the things he does, they would be immediately flamed as racist... but the sad fact is, it's the truth whether you want to believe it or not.
Finally, I feel compelled to remind, that it has been proven time & time again that throwing $$$ at education does absolutely nothing to improve results.
Updated: (so you know where I stand) President Barack Hussein Obama II = Destroying America ...and there is no income tax in Florida ;)

It isnt racist.
Anything that a white person says is deemed racist. Clint Eastwood got it right, we are too politically correct.
So did Bill Cosby, he is very displeased with the general direction of the black community.

Is the article racist? No, it's accurate and factual. Is it presented in a slightly angry and jilted fashion? Yeah.
unfortunately the long standing issue of white "racisim" has caused the bleeding hearts to turn a very blind eye to the new forms of racisim that have sprung up in it's place.
Racisim at it's core is the seperation, shunning, attacking and abuse of others based on race. It is wrong, and in some cases a crime. So why is it that there are college programs designed to benefit everyone BUT white people? Why are there award programs that specifically exclude white people? If someone were to create things like this just for white people it would be immediately destroyed for being racist.
My uncle was up for a store general manager position with a large grocery store chain. He had twice the experience of any of the other candidates and more reccomendations from former general managers than any of the other applicants. There were 2 openings and 12 applicants. By all rights he WAS the best person for the job. Guess what? He didn't get it. When he asked why, he was told that they HAD to give it to other applicants because they didn't want to be sued under affirmitave action laws.
I hate the double standard we live in.

Yea I spose racist was not the correct term to be used. I was just shocked at the cold hard facts and the cruel demeanor that the article portrayed.
My black buddy was talking about how blacks always are generalized and labeled this or that because of their skin color. We went into Kohl's once to see how different people would react to me(white) and him(black) socializing with different people. I remember one particular mom and her two kids that we came up to. I was looking for clothes for my daughter in the kids aisle and she was there with her kids too. When I started socializing with her she was very nice and started talking to me about where my daughter went to school and ect. Later my buddy came up and tried to talk to her about his son and the same type of stuff. The mom was instantly on guard and didn't stay long in that area....my buddy went on to say how he feels this way all the time.
I agree with burntheblobs in that it is hard for blacks to dig themselves out of poverty because of their lack of quality education and good jobs. Legislators do need to do something with welfare and social security reforms so that these programs are not abused. My sister had two more kids just so she could not work and stay on welfare....im tired of paying for her and other people that abuse the system.

It's a bit like all of those firefighters in NYC that got denied promotions because they weren't a minority, even tho they were the highest percentile... affirmative action, meeting quotas, and reverse descrimination... oh joy :bash
P.S. Oh, and they have a lawsuit against the city because of it (and rightly so).

I don't even know where to begin to critique this article. Whoever wrote it has the jealousy of a ten year old boy who's younger brother is playing with his toys. There are points in this article that raise true concerns, but are approached in such a biased and confrontational way it should not be deemed worthy of publication. I really don't even want to get into the debate of how "minorities get all the breaks" because that generalized statement is complete horseshit. There is this HUGE GLARING ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM THAT ALL AMERICANS NEED TO REALIZE IS THERE, black Americans are NOT a minority.
There is this organization that was established, and it's purpose was to advance racial minorities opportunities, it was called the NAACP. "The NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens of United States and eliminate race prejudice." (quoted directly from NAACP.ORG) Yet, when was the last time you saw them fight to make sure Native Americans received equal rights, and representation in the US Government? If you look up scholarships, awards, opportunities, it's for female blacks or of latino descent. I think this country has horribly failed at everything it has tried to accomplish in terms of "equality of races". There is so much emphasis placed on White vs. Black in this country while they completely stay oblivious to all the shades of gray in between. The nations largest organization to promote racial equality has utterly destroyed any possibility of equality. It's like a weight scale that just never will reach equilibrium, you add a little more to one side.. and the scale falls there, add more to the other side.. and that side falls.. there is, and never will be a point until they realize they are going about it the wrong way.

This is very typical of what Mr Buchanan does. It honestly takes so much credibility away from his arguments.

Yeah, because we need to focus on racism instead of our completely fucked economy. It amazes me that even in this recession politicians still feel the need to pointlessly snipe at each other over asinine shit. I've come to hate everything Washington stands for.

There's a really simple trick to understanding racism.
The first person to invoke the word "racist" in any conversation is the racist.
Everyone else is just annoyed by it.
