Ain't she a beautiful thing?

The food poisoning thread got me thinking that I never posted this. I was in El Paso, TX for 4 of the worst months of my life doing quality control on this project.

The fence itself consists of a 7 x 2' trench with steel reinforced concrete and 4 x 4 steel posts anchored 4 feet into the concrete and double layer steel mesh welded on. The mesh is so tight that you can't even get your fingers in to climb the fence.

I must say that being in that town for 4 months desensitized me completely. I could go on for hours on this subject, but here are some pics. I wish it was electric. Oh, and it has a total height of 20 feet. The pictures make it look short, but the distance you see from the middle horizontal post to the top is the same to the bottom.

Getting the job done:

hey why are there not any mexicans in the olympic games for hight jump? because they all jumped the border into the states. And that is a badass fence, but if you closed taco bell they would all leave anyways.

They'll find another way in. Always do.

However, you cannot deny the amazing work it took to build the fence structure. Nice job out there sir.

It's about 75 miles long where I worked. The locals hated it. We had daily protesters from UTEP. They said it was wasting money, it was racist, it was this, it was that.

They where too chickenshit to admit they didn't want it because it kept their family where they belong and to slow the drug trade.

I had to leave that place, 4 months was enough.

Do they not teach you to use the English language properly in Canada? It's looking like a fact.
