39234, engagement ring or finish car... vote plz
Posted by 420agreenvilleSC, Mar-19-09 09:28 PM
PLZ READ ALLLL

CAR:
I'll be finishing the car up in JUNE after saving, selling, and buying parts. Long awaited since september of last year.

June is the only month I have off from full time school/work. That's why that month is the CAR's month. After that, who knows when i'll have time/money for it.

RING:
Been with her 7+ yrs. We're ready and have talked many of times on the subject. I graduate w/ my 4 yr bachelors deg. in MAY of 2010. SOO, if I ask her in may of THIS year, it'll be on time for graduation which i'd like to aim for.

engagement rings are expensive as you know and I need help deciding on where to spend the $2K.

Spend on the car and finish it in that ONLY time frame?
Get the ring and be on time for graduation/marriage?

Any suggestions/comments toward a resolution are appreciated. maybe having BOTH would be great.

I will be honest, I would go for the ring.

Whats seriously more important to you, your car which is a hobby, or your woman? Getting married young like myself was the best thing I ever did....now I have a 2 year old son and I love it.

IMO, ring it up sucka.

You'll marry her anyway. if you don't finish the car, you'll always regret it.

For all it's worth, I've done 7 years before, now I'm back down to 2 1/2ish. Girls come and go, the 2g will always be right where you left her :thumbsup

I vote for the car!!

Do both, it would be wrong if she tried to make stop doing something you enjoy doing your 2G. I bet there's stuff she likes doing and wouldn't give that up. It goes both ways

Women would call it a power/controlling thing but its not.

From personal experience I can tell you, NEVER follow what other married couples do or your inlaws. Learn from what other say or do but only do what you think is right for you.

Example:

Mother was engaged for 12 yrs till she tied the knot, there was some arguements and seperation due to the drinking but they both stayed together. Thankfully I wasn't around it, my grandmother raised me this all I will state.

I don't want to put that drama out there but you get the idea.

Usually MOST women dont support expensive hobbies, like the 2g, I know mine doesnt...

Plus, you will likely get your $2k back from wedding money!

Go for the ring. Brooke is hardcore, and she doesnt mind your hobby, seeing as youve been with her for a long time.

So obviously, car isnt a factor.

Ring it up!

Not hookers and blow, my way!

My way:

Find a brunette hooker with a rockin body and rock hard abs.

Then run lines off her stomach. Or around her nipples. Possibilities are endless.

True,

A cool thing is have the kiddies help out with your expensive hobby and teach them about it when there young they could be your shop clean up crew, parts-tool handler. It would keep them out of trouble or staying in the house playing video games etc..

I remember helping my pops SR, I'm actually a Jr. lol DALE jr.
Well I helped cleaning up valvecovers, trans-oil pans exterior, heads, blocks just the edges from the old gaskets, helped bleeding brakes and since I was into art, I repaint a valvecover for his 74 FORD F150 and Dodge Ram. He once owned an 427 Hemi Challenger while working for a Chrysler Planet, when I was 3 and since then I've been a mopar/chrysler guy.

+2 you will get it back soon enough. i know it sucks waiting longer to finish your build but everyone here has had to wait at one point. i have only met one guy that his girl supports him with his 2g. she even helps him on what she can.
if you can do a sappy love thing where you tell her you want to marry her and expensive rings shouldnt stand between your love and a inexpensive ring wouldnt matter. then you can do both, car and ring. When your wedding comes up you will have money cuz you finshed your car and then you can get her a nice ring. just tell her how you feel and she should love you for who you are. hell 7 year putting up with you should be a sign. i working on five years

Seriously? That is not expensive.

If you are asking this question on a car forum then you shouldn't be getting married to her anyway.

Your realize that once you're married, your car will soon be sold for something that you can put a car seat in right? Its a statistically proven fact.

"And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."

This is a simple matter of balance. There is no reason why you cant be married, have your car, and Kids. And IMO, you are fucking retarded if you spend over $500 on rings. I bought mine and my wife's rings at wal-mart for less than $300. They are very nice and represent the same thing as expensive rings. Now is the time to finish your car. Then life will be better all around. And having a kid is no reason to sell your 2g, i dont care what anyone says. Carseats DO fit back there. Just balance it out and everything will be fine. I vote for the car.

congratulations on the 10000 post mark. lol. and I will not ever sell the car unless someone offers over 5 digits. If i sold it, i'd miss it and never be able to get it back. I lost my first car like that, it won't happen with this one.

As far as this thread goes, i'm going for the car. I'll be buying the ring close to christmas and proposing sometime during the month of December. I really appreciate everyone's opinion. Helped me out. did i mention i love 2gnt?

Your asking on a car forum? A site where we come to because we LOVE our cars. Of course the poll is going to tilt towards the 2g.

I say ring. No explanation needed. You truly know what you wanted to do before this poll.
