This morning, as I was tying my shoes, I heard something faint in the background during a quiet point in my Tchaikovsky on the radio. Listening closer, I realized that it was one of those annoying mexican polka stations bleeding through.

If all these radio stations are broadcasting with the industry standard 100,000 watts, why is it that my alternative station will fade in and out as I cross town, but these ridiculous ass music stations come in crystal clear, even bleeding over into neighboring frequencies?

Is it just that my receivers aren't the best quality or have gotten old?

I don't understand why my "EDGE" 103.9 isn't as solid as the "Rahdeeo Try-Colore."

Just curious if anyone knew. Thanks.

Mostly it's that all stations aren't broadcasting at 100k watts. Your favorite station may be only 30-50k watts, alternative stations don't have the huge listener base that the "urban repetitive crap" and "messican polka" stations have, so they don't tend to get the funding to use the big 100k watt towers that the "popular" stations do.

It's an allegory for your life.

While you may think you listen to good music, the vast majority of society is more than happy to trample on your one enjoyment in life with shitty polka, simply because there are more of them than there are of you.

blah....what sucks more is having 10000000 of tejano shit and only 6 american stations. and 5 of those 6 suck ass
