I am down in Irvine, CA and have just hooked up with a local company called Superformance. I'm promoting their vehicles down at the OC marketplace for those of you in the area. These cars are gorgeous and meticulously crafted to replicate the old '64 shelby Cobra and they are licensed by Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. The cars are built as complete rolling chassis without engine or drivetrain. Then the owner picks out his/her engine which is usually a Roush 302, 351, 427 just to name a few and match it up to a 5 or 6 speed manual or automatic tranny. I've put a couple of pictures down below.

Basically I'm extending the invite for anybody in the SoCal OC area to come to Cosa Mesa for the Marketplace and come say hi. It's at the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. We'll only have two of the cars down there but hopefully we'll get more as the season goes on and I'm there every weekend. They are very impressive cars.

You should roll to Cars and Coffee in Irvine with a couple. Granted, that crowd generally rolls real Cobras and GT40s, but there's a LOT of fans and people with money around.

Google "Cars and Coffee" and you'll get the whole scoop.

Wait so all those GT40's are replicas?

Your company builds the chassis or is it just a body kit? Any pics of the chassis itself without body panels?

Yes they are replicas, but they are manufactured as complete rolling chassis minus engine and transmission. Each is built brand new with absolutely no donor parts. They are built as an almost exact replica. The spot welds are even located in the same spots as the originals. I don't have any chassis pics because as you see them in the pictures is how they are delivered. They are completely painted, wired, and assembled. If you installed a battery the lights would turn on. All you have to do is drop in your engine of choice. Small or big block depending on which model it is (MKI or MKII). Over 2/3's of the parts are interchangeable with a real GT-40. Except our models have A/C. Ours are even licensed by Safir (the company who owns the body style) and are eligible for the official GT-40 registry. I just represent them at the OC Marketplace.

Where are they manufactured?

How much for a GT40 chassis?

They are manufactured by a company called Hi-Tech out of South Africa. Check out the superformance site. They have dealers throughout the US.

The GT-40 chassis start at 80K.

I've heard a couple of guys talking about this. I think these cars have been down there a time or two. I work at the marketplace every weekend so I'm stuck there when this is going on. One of these days I'll make it though.

Word is cars and coffee is moving to it's new location at the OC Marketplace this Saturday. Anybody in the area should swing by and check it out. We're hoping to make it quite the show. (Not that it isn't a blast already)

I thought I would update this thread since Driggs mentioned C&C already. It's a pretty big coincidence that it is now moving to the Marketplace where I have been for the past couple of months.

Anyway I'm still hoping to meet some 2gnt'ers there. I'm still with Superformance so stop by and say hi.

Actually, Cars and Coffee is kicking out all the normal cars and returning to their original intent. A bunch of Honda owners (s2000 and NSX) ruined it for everyone. The event at the OC Marketplace is a separate show designed to pull out the unwanted from C&C.

The event organizer asked them to park in another lot because this lot had been set aside for the S2000's and everyone flipped them off, cussed them out, and drove in anyways. And took up an entire area of their show, and got out of the cars and walked around amongst the S2000 crew like there was no reason why they shouldnt be allowed there.

They showed a total disregard for everyone. I am sure all but a few are not true car enthusiasts. They are S2000 enthusiasts, so they should have had their own show.

Hmmm, looks like the event organizer should have just called Johnny Law and had them remove, especially if they were being that disrespectful. If they can't follow the rules, they don't need to be there. Just my .02.

Interesting. I guess we'll see how everything works out. It's gone from Crystal Cove to the Ford Parking Lot. I'm sure its frustrating when a small group ruins it for the rest. I'm interested to see what is going to happen at both locations. I was under the impression that the whole thing was moving to the Fairgrounds. Hmmmm.
