landed a job welding critical jet engine parts out of Inconel and Titanium. Sick. Pulled in 8k last month...most money ive made so im super stoked. Only dealing with pimp shit. The company actually bought Special Metals in 06 (the makers of Inconel) so Im actually working for the people who own it which is fuckin shibtastic. Discounts? haha.

its funny working with a bunch of metallurgy nueubes though, I mean I had one guy tell me stainless steels dont contain iron...haha. oh well, I just want to keep my head down and just weld shit.

the Ti is welded in chambers for obvious reasons. The inconel is welded in booths.

I wouldnt mind a manifold and turbo setup out of Inconel 625...
Inconel is really a remarkable alloy. Im welding on casted 718 and its quite a bit different though even though ive worked with 625 before. Its alloyed with Ti and Al in small amounts so it welds more like Al.

The problem with a Ti manifold is galvanic corrosion...and expense! 30-50$ a lb depending on the alloy. yikes.

I pretty much just wanted to weld the biggest fuckin turbos I could find. im such a boost junkie.

my welding teacher at my university once worked at a three month job that paid 97$ an hour for welding some towers for this communication company. 21 12 hour days of work strait, then 7 off for three months. thats like 75k for three months. Its all about the tickets that you have.

So, now that you have this sweet job will we see a 600+ hp eclipse? }(

Tech alloys are awesome. I have a compressor blade from the Concorde engine (examples seen here: http://www.enginehistory.org/GasTurbines/Blades/blades.htm) and an inconel F1 exhaust manifold. Also keep a bar of titanium one my desk at work, as a sort of memento of those other bits of Ti embedded in my skull...
