hey guys, sorry I haven't been around recently. The Nazi's at work shut down all internet access with the exception of "work related" sights.

I need some help. As many of you know, my engine was in the garage at my In-law's house when it went up in flames. the block may be salvageable after chipping out the melted water pump that was still attached but the head is literally melted in places.

State farm is trying to dick me out of the value of the head (which was in perfect condition, I just wanted to do valve seals while it was out of the car) and wants to give me core value for it of roughly $100. To get a real value I need a receipt showing a freshly built head.

I was wondering if any of my 2GNT family could come up with or "make" me an official reciept for a freshly built mild performance head that shows a delivery date sometime prior to august of this year? I would be greatly appreciative and indebted to whomever could produce such an item. Also if any of the engine builders here could make me one I would be very inclined to turn around and hand that money back to whomever created the receipt for the matching head.

I just really want to stick it to State Farm, they've been complete dicks to my family throughout this very hard time.

I made up a mild block It'll cost 3,000 I rounded to nearest dollar amount, because thats what the insurance will ask est. cost for Brand new.
I heard about state farm probs. I went thru. same thing few yrs back. Centex and State farm isn't that great for home insurance.

I don't think you understand. I have to provide state farm with a reciept for a built head to get the full value reimbursed for the destroyed head otherwise crap farm will only give me core value. I don't have any reciepts, just the head from my spare engine that was destroyed in the fire before I could finish it.

Please guys, I don't want to get shafted on this. I just want a head so that I can get my car running again.

good point. I'm just pissed that state farm is giving my family the runaround when they've been customers for over 30 years. that and my car is being delayed even further from running.

oh hell, maybe I'll hand them a baggie of ash and say that's the reciept :(

As Josh said, I think your going about this in the wrong fashion. If your head was actually built (which I don't know one way or another) then contact the shop that either ordered your parts, the shop that machined your head, or the shop that assembled your head for copies of your receipts. If you did all the work yourself then you should at least be able to contact the vendor that provided you the parts to do so and recoup some losses there. Technically what your asking is... well.. on the narrow line between, well you should know (without saying explicitly). I feel bad for your situation, and I'm sure the insurance agent doesn't but don't put yourself in the situation of facing legal repercussions in order to beat the insurance company. Travel all the possible means first of providing duplicates, then if you can't get physical documentation see if the insurance company is willing to contact where the work was done for verbal confirmation. Insurance companies are never easy to deal with. Insurance companies make hundreds of millions per year frustrating people to the point of saying "ah fuck it, it's not worth it" while they pocket that cash and the agent gets a good bonus at the end of the month, courtesy of your livelihood, and mental stability. Keep trying, and continue to make your case hopefully something turns the right way for you.
