It seems all other forums have a general lack of technical information.

I'm slowly beginning to realize that nobody else REALLY knows how to work on shit.

On the local m/c boards, people buy bikes, learn to ride, and pay people to work on them. Sorry, I'm not like that. When someone asked for help installing a power commander, I told him he can come to my house, use my tools, and I will guide him to install it himself and he backed out, he wanted someone to do it for him. Fuck that.

i got a friend who wants to know how much a shop would charge to do a sprocket swap. haha i said theyll charge him out his ass, and to do it himself. i would do it for him but hes in dallas, 8 hours from me.

Agreed Luke. There aren't many sites out there with the knowledge this one has. I think you are correct when you say you'd be better off getting answers from here.

It's funny watching the morons on SRTForums shift from "Have it fixed under warranty" to "Oh shit, how do I fix this" when warranties started to run out. Don't get me wrong, there are some sharp people over there but for every one of those there are 1000 people that don't know you turn bolts clockwise to tighten them.

I think time plays the biggest role. After enough of it only the die-hards are left and that's when the real work begins.

We're a different breed here. We started out long ago with only the dedicated nut cases (like me) who whated to do everything ourselves, and just built up our members from there. New people who don't fit that model I think just find another board that fits them.

This may be a little of topic but I recently opened up a cardomain account. What a fucking mistake I think that was. First of all, no site is like 2gnt.com as already stated, but when some fucking retard suggested the 420a to 4g63 swap to some chick, (she apparently fell for it and is shopping for a block) I just pointed out the facts to her and then started getting flaming PM's from the ricer who suggested it to her. He gave me a link to some site where a guy from Taiwan supposedly installed an evo 8 motor in a NT and he now thinks it's something everybody can do on the weekends. I'm not easily offended but damn, there really are a bunch of dumb fucks out there claiming to be the "Be all, end all" all 2gnt pros. It slightly pisses me off. Just thought I would share my experience and yes... there is absolutely no site like 2gnt.com. (I think I'm online here more than online looking at porn.)

EDIT* At least I can admit that I really don't know much about my car. But that doesn't mean I'm smart enough to leave it alone.

As for Cardomain, well, that's fucktard central. Seriously. The mongoloids posting comments on YouTube all have accounts there, I bet. I have to roffle at the SRTforums comments, though. I think I'm an OG member of that community, having never owned an SRT and made less than 5 posts. I'm a valuable member of the community, I guess. The more of them that get out because there's no warranty, the more respect I think I'll have for Skittle owners from here on out.

80 percent of the cars are boosted shit heaps that run 13's or faster for less than $2k. Some less than $500. One guy has a 12 second civic that's using brakleen cans as charge piping.

The best i've seen on here is a few ching-chong turbos and wastegates, fence pole intercooler pipes and jb welded blow off valves. Everything else is high doller baller stuff.

You can buy all sorts of parts and shit from people on there dirt cheap as long as you know who to deal with and who not to deal with.

Granted, you're better off buying holsets on ebay vs hmt.

HMT is cheap and dirty, just how i like it.

Also, i enjoy the forum and enjoy chatting to alot of our members. Dont get me wrong, i hate the 420a for being such a money hungry slut but i like seeing how others are building theirs that have the money to do so and give praise where praise is due.

I dont post on any of the honda forums, though homemade turbo is mostly honda. There are a few sc300's, supras, AE86's, boosted escorts, elantras, maximas, sentras, KA24 turbo 240s, starions, conquests, old skool vw's, 5.0's, Turbo ls1 rx7's, scoobys (one guy has a twin charged legacy (supercharger and turbocharger)......

Good stuff.

There's no two ways about it. This site is one of the best around on all levels. The knowledge, insight, and the community are all top-notch. People (like me) tend to come and go, but the site always remains exactly as it has been: the absolute be-all end-all of 2g sites. In fact, it's one of the best communities I've been in, period. I'm not a mechanic and typically spend my time in The Pits and it's always been a great place to just relax and pass the time. It's the reason I keep coming back, even though it's been years since I owned a DSM.
