35361, need some prayers guys (or whatever) now with pics :( 56k don't Posted by RoninEclipse2G, Aug-22-08 07:00 AM
hey guys, Joy and I had bit of a shocking wakeup this morning to find out that our parent's house was on fire. http://cbs4denver.com/local/elizabeth.house.explosion.2.801068.html We could really use some prayers guys. everyone got out ok but all but one of the indoor pets died. a couple cars and lots of parts were destroyed as well. my spare block and head were in that garage (actually they're probably what's holding upthe remains of the garage door)
contrary to what the news said there was no explosion, some tires burst.
Joy and I could really use your support through this time
Thanks, Erik

Damn sorry to hear. My fiance's family's garage burnt down last year, not all of their worldly possessions, but definitely enough. Glad to hear everybody made it out ok, sorry about the pets though. Hopefully unlike my fiances parents, your parents will not have to go through another nightmare with trying to get money out of the insurance company.

Sorry to hear about that. Any Idea what started the fire? (too lazy to read article). Was that your DSM parked next to the garage? Thats some crazy head damage, turned the headlight into pudding.

Same thing happend to my mothers, it didn't explode fire dept. caught it in time.
It was year before I joined 2gnt and bought my 2g also. Here's the story, Keep in mind I'm very thankful that I'm still here.
Well, as you all may know I'm Divorce, Lost a great job/Decent apartment because my ex. Tried to pull a fast one on me and the courts, luckly I cuaght it spoke up in court had lowered. I was forced to move back to home, Yeah sux, but I'm getting back on my feet. Anyway, in the summer of 05' My mother bought a campground. Thats she and everyone spent their weekends, I worked the weekends so stayed back home. It was about 5 a.m I was home alone sleeping in my game room on a couch. I woke up to a loud crackling, bopping sound of a Electrical shorting noise. It was pitch black with smoke, I had a light on during the night because our gameroom in attached to the garage. I couldn't f'n breathe, thats was why I woke up. I jumped up ran to a dood that goes into the garage, I opened it and the whole backside of the garage, my STep fatherswork bench was gulfed in flames. My first thought, the ceiling work light Bulb type, shorted out and was the cause of the fire. I opend the garage door the smoke went out the neighbours called the fire dept and the fire cheif too he lived two houses down from me. It could've been worst because my step father had two 50 gal. barrels with oil in them because when we change our oil we dump it in them, depose when full later. These two a way from the work bench that was on fire. Then I saw my younger brother and his girlfriend where home, outside too. The lil fk'r didn't brother to wake me up, they where already outside before I opened the garage door, so when I opened the door they both where looked at me w/ a dumb found look in shock. I was pissed, but I didn't bitch at them. Fire department showed up 30 mins later the whole rear of the house was totaled even the floors. My mother lost her convertiable in the blaze. Everything I owned was lost either smoke damaged or fire, 10k worth. It turned out the Central air furnace had a electrical shorted out. We didn't even have it on, it still caught on fire.
So, I helped the contractor remodel my mothers house, I've done drywall and paint on the side when I lived in Michigan my real father-uncle had their own company. I saved my mom a few hundred and pocket some too.
Erik, I hope you're not Insured with CENTEX, they screwd the contractor and my mother from the claim. Reason, why jumped in to help the contractor is I got fed up hearing my mother complain about the contractor doing a shitty job-bitchn' about CENTEX and milking our Insurance company over 10 grand it took the bastard about a month before he started and when he started he only work 4 hrs a day in the morning thats it.
Plus, this CENTEX company has had hundreds of complaints and I believe they went bankrup also.
Your in my prayers, bud
Hope Dsm was okay, I see it in the background of one of your pic.

well, it's super sad but everyone will get through this. the house will be rebuilt, my engine will be replaced since it was in the garage (yay!) the plastic bits that melted won't since the cars weren't in the garage (we'll fight that bit)
the only truly irreplaceable things are the animals, a few classic car parts and some family memorabilia. my family will get a new house and everything repaired or replaced. Insurance isn't being too retarded yet and our on-site guy is super cool.
thanks for the prayers and positive thoughts guys

Im glad to hear things will go well. Hey at least you get that motor replaced. The heat damage on the 2g is repairable right?

Good point of view, man. Now, let's have the insurance company talk about the irreplaceable, one onwner E-Type. See where they stand on that. :P

35393, RE: need some prayers guys (or whatever) now with pics :( 56k don't Posted by RoninEclipse2G, Aug-23-08 08:00 AM
Tim - my cars are all fine, just some moldings and lamps. fairly easily replaced, hell, the door handle still works on my 2g
Brian - we wish it was a 1 owner :) my father in law isn't "that" old he got it in 74. it may get the top chopped off and caged to make a roadster racecar if the heat didn't warp the unibody too bad or make the metal too brittle. the engine for the car was in the garage too so that will be compensated for.
The really funny things are the few sets of Mag wheels and VW transmissions that are just GONE. I tried to get pics of where the scars in the ground where, but they just didn't show up in the pics
