34838, Scam or not? Your opinion
Posted by totaleclipse_05, Jul-27-08 12:05 PM
Alright, posted up some stuff I don't use anymore on craigslist and I put up my PSP and some extras and was asking $200. Here's how the emails went:

From: Some Jessica Chick

is your item still for sele?

Me:

Yes, I still have all of it.

Her:

Nice hearing back from you.Am mrs jessica Bloom i will like to buy your item for my friend.i suppose to come and pickup the item in your house so i cant able to come because am out of the state and am very busy due to my work. so am going to pay you $300 for the item including the shipping fees and am going to pay you via paypal so get back to me with your paypal email address so i can pay you on time.

Thanks.

Me:

I'm only asking $200, not 300 for everything.

Her:

yes i know i mean plus the shipping fees so get back to me with your paypal email address for the instant payment

Should I go through with it and give them my paypal? I haven't heard of scammers using paypal yet to screw people over, usually just hear money transfers, western union, etc.

Yeh just make sure you wait till the money clears into your bank account before you ship. If they file a complaint and you lose, its not like Paypal can take money from your account.

Use UPS for tracking and after the item ships, remove your bank account info from your paypal! If your forced to open a new paypal account, you cant re-use your bank account info if it is still attached to the lock up paypal acct. Follow me?

Hmm, seems like more of a hassle than it's worth almost. You can start up another account with all the same info as the original had and Paypal can't do anything?

For $100 extra , I'd go for it! Paypal is secure, as said above, just wait for the payment to clear. Ship it insured with signature confirmation, it's only like an extra couple bucks. If they try to open a dispute through Paypal to get their money back after they get the stuff, just provide the tracking number and case closed.

Scam. It's much easier to blanket email FS items on Craigslist with the word "item" instead of what it actually is.

Me:

Her:

Me:

So you don't want the PSP anymore? I have it ready to send out in a box all packaged up.

Her:

Thanks

Me:

I still haven't received a PayPal email letting me know where to send the tracking info to. I have to say something thought that is on my mind, you seem like the kind of woman that likes to take charge, I like that in a woman. Do you happen to have any pics of what you look like? What is your sign? Where are you from?

You can open another paypal account, you just can use the same bank account or CC if the number is still the primary on a bad account.

I figured the scam was to try and file a claim with paypal, she gets her money back and you lose both the "item" and money. Or she gets her money back and your account shows a -300 waiting for you to pay into it.

They never give up.....its amazing.
