Isnt it illegal to copy someone else's pictures without written permission or something?

This goof, posted a pic of my engine bay on here, must have got the pic from this site, because it was my old SIG pic...?

Could be, idk. You did take the pics so you do own them technically. At the same time you did post it on the internet with no disclaimers regarding them being copyrighted, etc. Without clicking I thought "I would be flattered if someone used a pic of my car to sell their stuff" But after seeing what it was for, the middle school quality of the ad, and the fact that they have zero feedback, I wouldn't be happy and would be requesting they take it down.

EDIT: I dont really care that the pic is being used, I just thought it was weird to see a pic of my engine on an ebay auction and I had no idea about it.

I am going to email the seller and ask that it be removed.

After reading the ad I am convinced that it is a particular member of this board, I will not say which in order to avoid the possibility of having to start The Pits V5.1, but if you're smart you know who it is.

It's not enforceable even if it is illegal. You might want to protect yourself by putting a copyright notice on your photos if you don't want them to be part of the public domain.

If you want someone to stop using your images, you have to send them a cease and desist order. Then you can take them to court. I'm guessing the pic isn't worth the thousands it would cost to do that, so is this guy.

I dont have a problem with it. I was just saying that it was pretty odd to see that like that. I am not going to take anyone to court or threaten whoever it is, haha.

Contact Ebay....its against ebay poicies and yes it is illegal. Not so illegal you could try to prosecute him but illegal enough his post will be removed and ebay will warn him. 3 warnings = no ebay account.
