I am having an issue were I am trying to turn on intrusion detection in my antivirus. It keeps throwing a error saying my windows user account is restricted. I am the only user acount there is. It also keeps saying at other times only administrator can make those changes.

restart in safe mode and login to the Administrator account. Then under the user settings assign yourself to an admin role. Alternately, you may want to right click on the icon for the IDS and then click run as... Then select to run as administrator.

Is it Vista?

If it is it may be that you need to turn UAC off...

Click Start, right about that there is a box called "Start Search". Put User Account in there, and then up top select User Accounts.

Then a windod will pop up and you will have two things with the Windows shield next to it, one for manage another account, and one that says "Turn User Account Control on or off". Click the latter, and uncheck the box.

Thats if you have Vista though :)

Do you have a DELL or Mac

I haven't heard of that intrusion detection on my DELL so I assume you have a Mac.

If you have a dell click on start bottom, click control panel, click on user accounts, click on change account under PICK a Task, Since you're the only person using your computer Click on your Name, Then click on Change my account type, click on Computer Administrator. Now you should able to you use that program.

What brand is your antivirus little more detail would help you out more.
