So i think im going to have to buy a shitty car for now, because i wont be able to drive the talon for a while. If anyone knows of any ways to get me out of this let me know. Heres the story, my dad died two weeks ago, and my car was in his name for insurance reasons. We cant find the will and the insurance is going to expire next week because his bank accounts are frozen. So after that i wont be able to drive the car, and cant get new insurance because the car is not in my name. It will hopefully be given to me when an exectutor is nammed, but that will take a few months, so for now im fucked. Ive got less than 600$ right now and no child support coming anymore and have to pay for college soon. Luckly ill be starting work full time again for the summer next week. So does any one have any ideas how to get out of this. I cant just take a bus or taxi because i live in the middle of no where. Im thinking of buying a 1999ish cougar because i think they are nice and you can get good ones for like 2500$ around here, but im worried about insurance on them.

I don't know what to tell you about the insurance, but I'm sorry to hear about your dad.

My insurance has never asked me for information regarding who's name was on the car. I would take the vin number to a place like all State or Farmers. Stay away from State Farm. not only are they more money for less coverage but they pull little bullshit like randomly runnign your record. You dont get a discount for good credit record like Allstate. When i switched to All State i was able to double my coverage for the same money. I save all my policies so we were able to sit down and pick the lousy State Farm one apart. All State runs your record for 5 years if that matters to you. They run it the first time and do not run it again in the future. I found out my State Farm agent was runnign mine ever 1 or 2 months and I have a perfect record for the past 7 years.

I have had State Farm for over 10 years in the past and I found out they are so cheap that they will fuck anyone over including you to get a car fixed for nothing even if its not your fault. That is one company i would pay to see go out of business. It got so bad for me I had to sue them for the 3000.00 in storage fees because they dicked around fixing my car. I won but it cost me 1500.00 in lawyer shit.

Good luck bud....There was no will huh?

Better yet, find a shell with a nice body and start swapping. If you lose possetion of it you can say good luck to whoever gets it.

Yeah, Star is right.

I insured a car with my own policy on a car that was in my moms name.

That was through Nationwide.

Id go around to the insurance places with the VIN. Maybe even talk to your dads insurance agent?

we talked to his insurance agent and everything was going to be good until i got the car into my name, they would take the money out of his acount and that would be perfect. but now sence his "loving wife" who he couldnt stand and they hated each other( and were seperated for 4 years with seperation agreement and going through a divorce about to sign papers)decided to freeze the acount. The only thing i can think of right now is to see if i can insure myself and pay more(which i dont care about), but im not sure if thats possible, im thinking it could be like getting insurance under someone elses car for buisness or something. Or finding another green 97 talon wreck.

So heres something i thought of so i might be able to keep driving. Now i know ive got a few motorcycles coming my way when an executor gets names(he had five, two of which were "mine") but for now im thinking of buying a shitty bike for like 1500 and driving it for the summer until i can get my car or a better bike and just selling it. If the bike is like a 1987 ninja 250 insurance will be less then 1000$ a year, so i can pay that no problem. Ive been riding for a long time, and before he died, he had bought me a new croch rocket(i dont even know what kind it is, some suzuki that he was going to supprise me with) so this shouldnt be a problem. had anyone here used a bike as their main method of transportation over a summer haha? I would save money one fuel atleast.

I edited you previous post, the last statement for obvious reasons for yourself. Dont leave yourself open to more issues but trust I have been in that same situation so if you need help let me know.

As far as the bike? one word RAIN.

Just take your vin, claim the car is in your name and purchase insurance....no biggie. get a good lawyer and screw that bitch over hardcore!

Insuring a car that isn't owned by you is not a problem, I've been borrowing my mom's explorer while the eclipse has been down and she lives in a different state. It's registered, titled and licensed in her name but I'm the insured driver. All the insurance company needs is a VIN# and they'll insure anything in your name.

as for a bike as your only daily, Terry's right. You don't live in Arizona or Nevada where it NEVER rains, you live in Ontario.

On a side note to Terry, I'm surprised you had such bad luck with State Farm. When I worked at the body shop state farm was one of if not the best to deal with, they just wanted the cars fixed right and didn't bat an eye at most repairs. Also before my agent retired I had some of the best service ever from an insurance company. Maybe you had a bad agent? :shrug Allstate and Farmers were the absoloute worst coming from a body shop perspective, they always wanted used parts on the car or worse (making us fill things with bondo that should have been repaired or replaced) just to save a few bucks.

We called about this, and i couldnt do it. The good news it that for some reasons i cant get into because its long is that state farm(he was with them) will insure me to drive the talon, but not any of his bikes or the jeep or the prelude for 300$ for six months. So im super happy at that. The bad news is that i wont have the bikes to drive. So basically we have a 2004 suzuki katana 600, a 2004 kawasocki klr 650, a 1997 yamaha virago 1000cc(its amazing with so much chrome and a beautiful paint job), a 1987 yamaha dt 200, and a 1997 yamaha yzf 600 sitting in his garage until everything goes through probate and gets transfered.
