33600, Anyone with a Motorola Razor cell phone...!?!? Posted by eclipse982nrRST, Jun-04-08 01:01 PM
I am having issues with mine after 8 months. Seems as if my backlighting on the screen does not work and is blank and black. The lighting on the key pad works and I can still make calls and recieve them but I just cant see what number or who I am calling or recieving from. It did work randomly again today, made a call, and it turned white and its out now. I dont have insurance and I am not sending it away and waiting 6 weeks for it to be sent back to me.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and can tell me what it was so I can try and fix it myself.
Thanks.

get rid of it....... or get insurance and get a new phone in a month (after your deductable)
good luck....
p.s. if you are with att/cingular, go to walmart and get a 14dolla prepay... i have 2 and they are great backup phones....

I haven't had any problems with mine yet...but I've only had it for a few months. (knocks on wood)
Quite honestly I love mine. Best phone I ever had...but I always get the freebie.
Just go on ebay and find something cheap.

If you don't have or want to use the insurance, there is a 1 year warranty on the phone. AT&T will warranty the phone back to Motorola free of charge. If you have AT&T that is. You just need to call Customer Service from another phone or landline and talk to them. They will probably put you through to Tech support for basic troubleshooting and then send you to the warranty repair depot.
They will send you another RAZR in a box. You just swap your SIM, battery, back cover over to the new phone and slap the prepaid shipping label on the box and call it a day.

The problem you are describing is a common one. The ballast for your TFT has gone tits up. Replacing the screen is the only repair option. We have Razr's for several of our employees. I see this problem quite often. I hope you're still under warranty. If not, don't buy another Razr of any kind. The failure rate on the whole line is astronomical.

Thank you Sir. Called up AT&T and another reman razor is on its way to me.
My wife bought it for me for christmas in 07 so its only 6-7 months old.
And, I like my razor, never had any issues with it until now.

I had the same thing happen about a month back, but the phone was approaching 2yrs old and my contract was just about up. Upgraded to a blackberry and I love it even without a data package. I really was a fan of the razor though, good fun until that happened.

I just don't have internet/email access with it. Still sync it with my computer and outlook for all my contacts, I can transfer pics, movies and mp3's.

Ah, i ask because i just upgraded to one and they told me i had to have the data package otherwise the phone wouldnt work.
Edit: per verizon, the blackberry will not work on their network without the data package. CSR claimed it could be the way their contract was setup with blackberry. I dont know, I have 30 days to decide if I keep it or not.

They told me the same thing when I bought my Motorola Q. @ months in, I decided I didn't use it as much as I thought and called to drop it. Still works fine but can't do MMS messages w/o the data package. :shrug

Maybe that's just verizon, I just switched over to AT&T because verizon likes to do stupid crap like that (Half the features on my razor were locked because of verizon).

multi-media message. you can't get picture messages without the data package. my wife had a crackberry and she couldn't get picture or audio messages without spending the extra $20 a month on the data package.

yeah Verizion gimp all their phones so you HAVE to use the network to do things. they do not support OBEX on the phones, so things like Bluetooth are only useful for a headset, or car integration. even if you try to use the Motorola phone tools, half the shit dont work because of Verizions stupid "get it now, and Vcast" system
