33312, Any other WoW players? Posted by Fallen4ng31, May-23-08 08:03 AM
Yeah I know I'm setting myself up on this one. I was just curious if anyone else plays WoW. I'm pretty casual about it, as I saw too many friends wash out of college and various jobs becuase of it. Well, more like because they couldn't budget their time and prioritize properly. Anyway, what do you play? and what server do you run on?

Nope, I'll never play a mmo ever again. I almost killed myself with Ultima online by getting massively dehydrated and sleep deprived.

Yup, I'm one...I used to think it was lame until I gave it a shot. It's a good time a couple of nights a week. I'll just go ahead and put my flame suit on...

I dont get near online gaming at all anymore. I used to be seriously addicted to asherons call in college and that got way out of hand. So i sold my character. Then i didnt play games for years until xbox 360 came out and then i started getting hooked on rainbow live so i sold it. Only system i keep now is nintendo 64! and mario kart!! lol

i did. i was pretty hardcore for a while and in a guild that was #2 on the server for a while. the endgame raiding got to me after a while, it just wasent like it was pre-expansion. i started getting pissed at the whole "Welfare Epics" resulting from all the bitching from people "waahhh i pay $15 a month why can i have the best gear in the game without workign for it" and how Blizzard was changing the whole design of the game because of the stupid arena system resulting in extreme character nerfing just so people would stop their "waahhh XX class is sooo OP!". Serriously L2P! and dont get me started on the next expansion that will introduce vehicles and other crap to turn this once good game into "Unreal Tourneyment Warcraft Edition"
so i quit, and sold my accout.
now i play the WoW killer, Age of Conan. http://www.ageofconan.com/ since its retail release on monday, it has shown tons of potential and is based as a Mature game, so no 12 year olds whining about not getting gear. (yes theres boobs, and blood, and you can behead your opponent) if you liked WoW i really think you would like this game. (from being a beta tester, i have a couple of trial codes, PM me and well talk) so we shall see how this game evolves over the next couple months and into years.

Shamelessly, I play WoW as well. Real casual about it as well, in SSC/TK, although my gear is good enough to start hyjal/black temple. My main is Zabara, a troll shaman on Darkspear. I have a leel 63 prot pally that I have been working on the side, and a 29 twink hunter for my pvp shit, and a couple other bank alts.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Darkspear&n=Zabara
I play more for the social aspect, since a ton of my real life friends play, and when I am not going out to the bars on the weekend, or working on my car, I'm chillin playing WoW.
I do agree with how bad this game has been dumbed down for the little kids who all want epics as well, pre-bc it actually used to be an accomplishment to get epics, now it is a joke. (I'm guilty of the badge reward epics too, but you try to gear an ele shaman by just doing 25 mans)
Oh, and btw, I DESPISE the arena. Gheyest shit ever introduced into this game. My shaman has been nerfed into the ground because of it.

61 Fire mage, 29 twink rogue, and some other side projects on Shattered Hand. It does get kinda sad when you think about how much time you do spend playing the game.

Used to play, but I hated all the grinding. I was also one of those social-types who played mostly cause lots of my friends played and had a guild, so my typical time was spent tagging along for dungeons and making random stupid comments.
I've been debating getting back into it, but I'm not sure. I'm too lazy to actually save up the proper monies to build a pc that could handle it, not to mention grinding up. As an example, it took me 6 months to get a human mage up to level 22. :)
It can be fun tho.

I have a 70 rogue on durotan. Havent played in 4-5 months, and stopped paying for it about 2 months ago so if I dont pay up soon he will be lost forever. It was fun for a while, but idk its gone way done hill. I dont mind the badge system or the welfare epics. welfare epics were there pre-bc just not so many. I hate that you have to grind and grind and grind now to do almost anything except get an epic. The whole game turned into grind sessions.
I did I'm embarrased to say meet me feincee through wow, by chance, and we have a son. None of that would have happened without wow.

haha, I play WoW. Got 3 level 70s, but I don't let it change the priorities of my time. I do raid consistently but only 2 times a week. I play on Dunemaul and my guild is currently in SSC/TK, trying to get to Hyjal and Bt soon. I play a Pally Tank as my main (alliance).
I do agree with foggy tho, the game has become a gear fest. All you need are badges to get tier 6 equivalent gear, rather ridiculous.
Been thinking of trying Conan, but geez could we please get a Mac version. FAIL!

No, no, You own a Mac. You = FAIL. ;P Also, someone mentioned UO. Heh, I played UO for 10 years. Hell, I remember before the public release, when there were still children in the game. You could escort them out of town and slaughter them; with no mission necessary. Plus, they spawned with between 180-400gp. :D

Coincidentally I was in Foggy's guild back in the day. Quit for a while and then came back a 2 months ago casually. Just starting arena now and I'm in 4pc S1 gear but still over 1800 rating. Hoping for 2k+ during S4.

I used to play 40+ hours a week for a good year. The PvP grind before it was toned down. All the hours though started effecting my behavior at work from lack of sleep, so I scaled it back and quit about 10 months ago. I have a 70, 4 60s, tons of gold, exalted with almost every grindable faction. you name it.
I won't be playing again. Well maybe when the expansion comes out! haha.

I've never played it, but I don't see how it could become so time consuming over such a LONG period of time. I get sick of video games in a pretty short period of time, sucks now they cost so much LOL. With that kind of time commitment you guys have put into WoW think of all the other things you could have done with your life?

33495, RE: Any other WoW players? Posted by cc8balla, May-31-08 04:16 AM
I dunno. I play WoW just as often as I used to play Halo. The WoW stereotype isn't true with most people, at least not the casual players. Only reason I play it, is when I'm not outside enoying the beautiful weather here, or at a bar, or at a concert, or not with the girlfriend, then its a great way to pass the time. I don't spend 40 hours a week on that game. Maybe an hour or two every couple days or so.
