My mom has a mazda mpv and needs a new cat . Her car is from cali but we live in ny . Does she still need a california cat or can she just get the regular one ?

i thought all the emissions parts were the same for cali and new york. same reason those are the only states that require a lot of new cars to have secondary air injection ...

What year is the MPV, I can look it up and see if there's a difference between a cali cat and a fed cat on on my work computer (I work at a mazda dealer in the parts department)

AWD has the same cat for both cali and fed, if your mom had a 2WD it would be a different story.

New units retail for almost $700, my price is $506+shipping (I'm guessing $30-40)

I did a quick search for aftermarket too, the only thing I found for the AWD was universals that would need to be welded in, they were roughly $80-200

at the local parts store they have the oe fed replacement for 220 .Thanks so much btw .
