May 7th 2008 marks a solid decade of Team 2GNT. What began as a small number of people wanting to get more out of their 2GNT DSMs "inside the web" has grown into more than 12,000 enthusiasts world-wide. Over the years, this site has become the singular source for tech and community for the non-turbo DSM owner.

In honor of our 10th anniversary, share one of your favorite things about this community. This place has saved all our asses on many occasions, but what was the biggest nightmare you had that being a member here made all the difference? How about your favorite funny memory from a meet or shootout or something?

Happy Birthday Team 2GNT. :cheers

Happy birthday.

Lets just say my car would have blown up alot sooner had if i had no knowledge of the site. I've gotten so much help from several members on here. One guy, i can't remember his user name off hand but he said his name was jason over the phone.... Anyway, he sent me a rear motor mount i needed to get my car back up and running when nobody else had one. He even sent it before i sent payment in good faith and trust. I've never had anyone do that before, especially over the internet.

2gnt has been awesome. As much as i talk and rant about how much i hate my engine, something i read on here or somewhere else makes me want to keep it and not give up.

That is all.

Brandon

I never would have had the confidence to pull the head off my car without this site. Of course I probably would have saved a lot of money that I spent on mods too, so I guess it's worked both ways. This site did keep me from kitting my car though and learning to appreciate the stock lines.

2gnt basically taught me how to pull my 420a, and how to build it. So in a nutshell, 2gnt.com built my car. Not only did ya'll give me mechanical knowledge, but ya'll gave me respect when posting. When I first joined, I was bat-shit scared to post here, for fear of making myself look stupid, and not knowing what I was talking about. Taught me to search, THEN ask questions, taught me forum etiquette, and basically how to NOT be one of those internet nooobs. So much in fact, that I know own and run my own DSM site, a site which is doing quite well for itself.

So I thank you 2gnt, and congrats that you are now 10 years old.

10 years. Seems like half that or less since this has been my homepage, even though it has been since I joined in 1999. I remember the Inside the Web days, although I was a lurker then. From a technical standpoint, this is where I (we?) learned about modding a car with an ecu. Being much older than most everyone here, digging into a car without a carb and a distributor was a little daunting. All the highs and lows of building that beast were shared here, as we all pushed the envelope and learned from each other and our mistakes. We've had our share of outrageous and innovative members, shady vendors, and pioneers. There are more stories from the gatherings and the shootout than there are days in a year, impossible to single out one or two. More importantly, we have the community.

The single thing that brings me back here every day, 5 years after selling my cherished 2gnt are the people. A few casual internet acquaintances have grown into lifelong friendships. I can't explain the bond, but it is strong bond - any of us would drop everything to help the other out. I can't help but feel a little fatherly, watching some of you mature, get married, and start families. Ten years later, this is the most important place in my life, outside of my own flesh and blood. A place where we can catch up, or take a diversion from the daily grind.

So my thanks go out to Juan for beginning this simple website so we could mod our cars, and to all the members which have made this truly a community.

This site has taught me not to be afraid of anything when it comes to working on cars. When I joined up I didn't even know how to change my own oil. In the last 4 years (dang I've been here a while!) I've have 5 dsm's turbo and non. Pulled motors, done tons of mods and also learned the importance of upkeep on these cars.

2gnt made my passion for cars explode basically.

Wow, I can't believe that this site is that old. It doesnt seem like 10 years ago I found it and started posting on the old inside the web. This site has gone though a lot of changes and a lot of people. It makes me wonder where some of the people that I have never met are up to. This site is still awesome! I know I can come here and feel like I am part of a family! Whats also cool is that May 7th is also my anniversary for me starting my job doing what I do now! Two good things! I hope this site is around for a very long time!

My RS and GST thank you guys too :)

And to think....... I dont want to tell you a-holes this.....

my first post was how do you swap the 4g63 into a NT.

I have come far.

October makes 10 years for my RS and a year for the GST

Wow, has it been 10 years? Holy cow it has. I "joined" (AKA first posted) the day I drove my 2g home from the dealer, October 12, 1998. So it's been almost 10 years for me personally as well.

The only memory I have of the old ITW board was arguing with someone over what was a better investment, a paint job or a turbo kit. And this was back, I think, before Hahn's kit was even available. I remember posting under a different name every time I posted on the old board.

Best memory. hmm.

Either winning the 2gnt fantasy football league, getting voted as "favorite member" one year, getting the knowledge necessary to do pretty much all the mods on my car myself by reading this site, or meeting so many great people at the Nopi Nationals a few times after having chatted with them online for so long.

Happy B-day 2gnt.

One of my best/worst memories relating to 2gnt was the morning I got beat by a brand new Honda Odyssey dealer shuttle. That morning made me realize that my car was not fast, and it might never be, but I should still take pride in all the hard work I've put into it.

I bought my car out of a junk yard, and now it runs, and looks better than most dealer bought vehicles on the road.

Here is to 10 more years of 2gnt!

wow, 10 years. the same ammount of time that I've had my 2g (give or take a few months)

unfortunately I've only been here for roughly half that time (2 years lurking and the rest of the time you couldn't make me shut up :) )

happy 10th 2GNT!

7 years for me. My first car was my 2gnt and this is the first forum I ever joined. I probably wouldn't of been into cars as much if it wasn't for this site.

Jesus, I dont even remember when I joined. I think it was right after I bought my 95 RS (in 2000, mabye?). Quite honestly this was one of the first web boards I frequented. I've just always liked it.

Woah crazy. My favorite thing about 2gnt is the search function. :P

Oh and getting drunk with everyone in Ohio, that's pretty kickass too!
