So ya I'm a complete nerd and got the game at midnight.. so far it's pretty fun. The controls from the car are very hard to get used to and I'm still having trouble with it. Definitely doesn't play the way old GTA titles used to.. but that's not really a bad thing. Graphics are pretty damn sweet and so far somewhat interesting story line. I still haven't got a gun, not as easy (unless you go after cops) to pick one up as in old titles (or I just don't know where to look yet). Map is huge and I really get lost, no idea where I'm going 99% of the time.. Otherwise... seems like it will be a fun game.

I'm not really into the whole GTA series but the people over at the gaming forums that I visit sometimes were drooling over this game and the upcoming Metal Gear game. People were even planning on taking off from worrk to pick up GTA 4. Did you get it for the 360 or PS3? I have a PS3 but don't get to play it as often cause of work, school and kids. I picked up Mario Kart Racing for my kids on Sunday and they have been stuck to the TV ever since.

GTA 4 rocks. i've had it for almost a week now and it gets really good.

the car is definately harder to drive but once you get used to it, you can drift around the corners fairly easy.

Don't think it's not really going to matter.. one has a Blu-Ray, one doesn't but one is cheaper.. and has a few more games. From playing both I don't see a clear "better graphics".. That and most big time games are going dual platform.. This game is a deal breaker tho.. you have to get a next gen system if you don't have one already.

i would consider going with a PS3. i had my 360 for about a year now and it has completely crapped out on me. POS microsoft. ps3 ftw

Congrats on your purchase of a PS3. I have had my 60gig PS3 since Christmas and love it. Next game I recommend you purchasing is Call of Duty 4 and if you get a chance get yourself a PSP so you can link it up to your PS3. You might also wanna pick up a Dual Shock 3 controller to play with GTA4. BTW did you end up getting the 40 or 80 gig?

i got the 40 gig. I already have a PSP, so that was another reason to go with the PS3 over the 360. And yeah, call of duty 4 is the next game on the list.

Sticks are ass for FPS'. What firmware are you running on your PSP? Not Sony's official, I hope. If you're not modded PM me. (It's all software based, and it's easy to do and reverse if necessary.)

Anyway, the new physics in GTA4 are quite nice.
It's nice that combat was given more than a passing thought in this one. Before combat always seemed really clunky, nice and streamlined now. And cars behave more like real cars, no more perfect 80+ MPH 90* turns in a Lincoln Contenential.

I'm not sure if it's a launch 60gig that I own cause since they were no longer available brand new in stores I had to pick a refurbished one from gamestop. Alot of people say that COD4 also causes systems to freeze and sometimes even crash permanently but I have not had any problems playing it yet. I also doubt that story is credible cause look at where it's posted "Xbox 360 forum" :wary

I bought my 360 and COD4 back in March, and I've yet to have a single problem with my console. It doesn't even get hot after a few hours of playing or so.

This is why I waited quite awhile till I got the latest console. Let them fix the bugs out!

So if you get a chance go to the Comedy Club in the next Island over.. guy did a bit on fat people and was actually pretty damn funny.. took a date there then back to her place for some "hot coffee" LOL

the only thing about this ps3 is that it has to be on when charging the controller. i don't want to leave it turned on while i'm not playing it, cuz i don't want to shorten it's life or anything, and i can't play with that little cord they gave me. wtf? why can't the controller charge when the thing isn't turned on?

hmm the 360 can use either AA batteries or a dock charging station... no problems for me.

Leaving your PS3 sit idle won't hurt it at all. I leave it on for a couple hours after playing sometimes if the controller or headset needs recharging.

Finished the main game last night, 17 hours total. I'd have to say that I don't think this title was deserving of a 10/10 in the least.

Ya.. they left out a few things in this one that I thought made GTA3 completely awesome. Such as the parachuting and base jumping. They put a few things in the game that you can't access, like the driving range and put put golf.. also the roller coaster.. would be awesome to do those. The building jumping is pretty cool.. if you can get used to it, and you don't plummet 10 stories to your death. Some things were overly sensitive.. but the handling of the cars was a HUGE improvement. 9-9.5/10 is still justified (unless the ending sucks). did you guys pick dwayne or the other guy.. and the guy at the beginning.. wonder how that affects game play in the long run.

don't think you get to buy shit.. but you get a few places and each place you can store 2 cars.. but i have had a few cars stolen from me.. mainly the ones that look like porsches.

Got call of duty 4 and gta4.

Both are great games.

You can smoke the tires in gta4 until they blow and then do sweet driftz on rims with sparks flyin....

Running from the cops is mad easier too, even at 3 stars you can get away instead of looking for a "star down" icon....
