3228, Ever think your DSM is broken but in reality is not? Posted by Clay, Feb-14-06 12:00 PM

After parking i get out and see this puddle of white liquid. I'm thinking great a massive leak. So i inspect the engine bay and nothing is out of the ordinary. Its like living in constant paranoia about the car breaking down.

Happens to me all the time. Occasionally though, it actually is broken. :P I'm partial to weird noises that I hear while I'm driving, then I actually have to lower my radio volume.

A fun little trick to play after an oil change is to take some used oil and make a noticable size puddle under your buddies car, especially if it's a brand new car. It'll drive him crazy trying to find the leak :P

I always think my car is broken, but in reality the car never breaks on its own, usually from the stuff I do to it, I'll neglect to work on that specific part to fix it properly.

ditto! Thought my timing was bad and making a wierd noise... belt was good (saving it just in case), tensioner was fine (also saving), the only bad part was the idler pulley.
Sometimes I think the car is fine when something is wrong with it (missing bolts for the rear motor mount), or alternator is loose and don't know it (yet keep wondering why the lights dim when the bass hits).
You fix one thing, another breaks.
My next car, and every car after that, I'm not touching unless I absolutely have to!

lol, that's funny, i totally know what you mean. Even when i'm driving past a car or rig that smells bad, i constantly think it's my car and begin to inspect when i stop.
Oh, I'm rebuilding soon clay, we gotta go race at the speedway when i get my IC. :thumbsup
