apparently you can get a "rolling uni-body" (drivetrain delete) imported directly to the us and then it gets liscensed as a "kit car" same way as the Cobra replicas do it except this time its a modern car. as being suck i think they are excempt from some of the emissions standards and such (not sure since here in Nebraska they dont care what your car does as long as it moves)

company is Kaizo Industries and from them the car comes FULL all you would need would be an engine, transmission, and wheels and Poof! a Skyline! (not exactly a cheap skyline idea but easier then the current regulations on foreign imports)

Aparentlly they also do S-15's
the Silvia would seem easier to do since you can drop in a KA and get it lisenced with that engine till a nice SR-20 could be sourced and built.

still an interesting concept and possible replacement for the dead MotoRex. will need to see how this all pans out in the next few months

in theory it works, but it's already difficult to register kit cars. almost harder to get insurance. do some research into real kit cars and read, read, read. I was looking at getting an Evo V or VI sent over here like that a few years ago

you can get past a shit-ton of bueracratic red tape by going the "kit" route however. you're not trying to go through the "grey market" registration bullshit for cars that were never produced for driving on american shores which requires crash testing and super strict emissions shenanagins (expect to bring over several cars just so the government can destroy them on your dime)

in the end it was too much money and hassle for me and the evo's finally made it stateside (no I don't have one)

I may still end up buying all the goodies off a wrecked JDM V or VI and ripping apart a 4 door mirage to do the conversion anyways, just to say I did

Yeah and pretty soon its going to be harder. The fed govt has figured out how the kit car guys are sliding through loopholes and there are some plans in the works to make it even more difficult.

You want to know another loophole.....join the military, buy one while oversees and bring it back......If you buy a car while your working oversees it makes it a bit easier too.

Its not that difficult its just expensive. Find a Registered importer. That will save you a lot of work. Skylines are as low as 12000. oversees. cost is about 7000. to ship. govt is 3.25% to import. EPA and Dept of transportation are a case by case situation and where most of your money goes. Thats where an RI comes in. they know whats got to be done and how to do it efficiently.

They're a KIT car, the Chasis is the from a Pontiac Fereo with a cheap Fiberglass body. There's also Kits for the LOTUS, LAMBO's etc..

Anyone can buy them, ADS for these Replica cars are in HOT ROD mags. in the back in the Classifieds.

Ya the company who makes those fiero/ferraris is about 40 mins from me. The guy also designed the kits for installing v-8' into fieros. Only what does this have to do with importing ferrari's into the states Dale?

People are scamming rich folks/people, by selling fake replicas and having the fraud/sticker price tricking making evryone think its a real one.

Just letting you all know, keep an eye make know what to look for when buying one.

I think that company 40mins from you let people know ahead of time its only a replica kit car. I might've read about that shop in a mag. or on tv. Long time ago...

LOL...If you can't tell a replica built on a fiero platform from the real thing from a simple onsite inspection from anyone over the age of 15 , I'm not sure you shouldn't get scammed.
