Warning - This is a bit of a rant too. Well this weekend was a busy time for me. I've been quietly buying up parts and installing them for the past few months. So, Saturday brought about the last N/A day for my car. I started Saturday morning chaniging the oil pan; and then breaking the oil sending unit. (I had the correct socket, a just couldn't get the &*!&!! plug out.) Got my oil tee and new pressure sending unit installed. Mounted the manifold and turbo, and ran the piping to the intercooler. (Which had been previously mounted) This process involved a lot of cursing, bleeding, and kicking random things in the garage. So since all of the other major stuff was done, it was time to tackle the plumbing. Ran the feed line from the tee to the turbo, and, What's this? Oh, It's 1.5" too short. *Great!* Ok, fine I'll buy a new one, but I can do the drain line now. Hmmm, look, 1.5" too shot as well. I think I'm seeing a pattern here. Screw it, the last thing I can do is mount the down pipe and button up the exhaust. And look! The flange on this downpipe is exactly parallel to the flange on my exhaust; Not at a crazy x* angle...So I get to have a test pipe fabricated, yay. But with the exception of those 3 things, It's done. Come Wednesday, we'll see what she can do. Pics to follow.

It's finally done and running. Jeezus; It's like driving a totally different car. Everything on this install fought me tooth and nail, every step of the way. But you're right the sense of accomplishment was quite awesome. :thumbsup (Even though my head and clothes were soaked in motor oil.)I can't believe the difference in the car's dynamics, even at just 8 PSI. A big thanks for everyone who helped out answering questions and listening to me piss and moan.

Congrats. It's by all means not a fast car on 5-8psi, but it is a HUGE improvement over stock. I took my wastegate spring out for something after about a year of driving around boosted and couldn't believe how slow the car was in comparison.

Congratulations! 5-8 psi is awesome, but maybe only the beginning. I remember the post I made way back asking what is the magical PSI where you start becoming scared of your car. The answer - around 21-22psi.

Gotta agree with you there EZ. But for you guys shouldn't that just be where you really experience a lot of wheel spin. :) Join the AWD world already....

A quick pic. I do have plans to dress it up a bit cosmetically.
Polish the intake, have the VC powder coated, Clean up and powder coat the IC piping. But, now I'm poor again. :P

looks good man. i'd get a heat shield for the turbo, and get the mani and DP ceramic coated aswell. (and pull the PS and A/C off :))

Dude, I live in Florida, No AC = a slow painful death. ;)
But yeah, ceramic coating is also on the list

i hope i dont die. i live in TN but it got like 110* last summer. and i had a/c then, dont now heh.

You drive with your windows up in the summer? Thats foolish, and slow deth.

Why don't you just keep the windows down and Sunroof open, carry plenty of h20 with you.

If you keep your A/C just remove your PS instead. Manuel Steering isn't that bad really, if you ever driven car with one.

I've been running my car with no ac and power steering since i've owned her. Well i did have both for about an hour. Bastard kept throwing belts so the entire system got pulled off the car. I have a black (sort of) car and it gets hot as fuck in the summer living in south cack. W/E. I didn't want to put forth the work to get everything operating as it should since the systems aren't required to make the car run. They're luxuries and steal away 5hp.


I deal with it but sitting in traffic without it is the worst. Talk about road rage....

I'd much rather lose 5hp and be cool in 100+* weather with 100% humidity. I feel ya though, My old Buick had no A/C or P/S.

in the beginning of last summer I was running without a headliner and no A/C, my eclipse is that really dark green you could only get in 95. temps spiked up around 105*+ I got out of the car a few times and my clothes were soaked, not good. gimmie A/C over a few horses any warm day. just having a dark car is nothing, pull out the headliner for a while it's like being put in the box at a WW2 japanese POW camp. the heat radiates down from the sheetmetal above

Concerning A/C, would you really be beating on your car with the A/C on and in that hot weather? If you want to play turn it off for a few minutes }(

I've had no A/C since I owned it (2.5 years now about) and in Cali it gets pretty hot, but with the windows down and sunroof up, seems ok. If I had the money I would just put back in the A/C belt and get it fixed though, quote frankley it can't be that big of a loss.

I cannot say how much, but having A/C on does take away a # of power.

I dont mind driving without power steering all that much and i dont care about gaining or losing 5 or whatever hp. It was a shot in the dark statement.


Unwad your panties. Lazy would have been to leave it there and not taking it off at all. Lazy would have been having a shop fix it. I got covered with grease, ps fluid, refridgerant and busted a few knuckles open on my own time. By it not being there, i have room for other things and i'm sure it will make head pulls alot easier in the future as well.

If that is the piping from the hahn kit, the pipe coming off the turbo is on backwards. A friend of mine did this too and it looked like yours. The pipes should be parallel like this:

If I'm mistaken, nevermind. Good job regardless! I remember my first drive after going turbo, it was amazing.
EDIT: you missed a bolt on your mani.

actually, my pipes are set up the same way. was the only way to make it fit with the atx if I remember correct.

makes for a whole new car though.

Yeah, I have an ATX, and i fought like hell to get the pipe in the other way; In the end that was the only way it would fit.
