This is my 99 grand prix 3.8L with 278k miles on it. It has a crazy misfire that's finally been diagnosed down to collapsed lifter/worn cam lobe on the intake side of cylinder 5. Here's a vid of the engine running without the valve cover. You can notice that the far right rocker arm doesn't move as fast or as much as the others.

you have a gimpy lifter.. that can be a real pain in the ass on some cars.

while your in there, might as well throw in a nasty cam. Had a friend with a big loping cam and it sounded mean as hell! Had some good top end for being an a/t. How long do they say that's supposed to take?

My dad is the original owner of the car and he just donated it to me as a dd since I'm in school and still have yet to find another dsm to play with.
The job should take just a few hours or somethin. I'll do it tomorrow afternoon barring any other circumstances that come up and the weather of course, seeing as I currently don't have a garage ftl
