This is just to see some of the terrible mistakes weve made to our cars over the years mine is.................

I had all black interior and thought it would look so cool bright ass yellow so I painted the dash door panels everything yellow and red.What was I thinking I am still kicking my self in the ..... the money I had to pay to replace it.

back in 01, I installed an alarm/remote start in the car. I was testing to see if the shock sensor worked properly, so I threw a hip into the body behind the door and put a nice dent in the car. I kept saying that I would take the interior panel off and push it out, but it's still there. :shrug

Well I am sure I will edit this later on with some other fucked up things I have done, but here is the first that came to mind:
I can say this about that though, that was one of the most times my car was ever extremely clean!

Ok well it wasn't on my eclipse but here it goes. I was loosening my up-pipe nuts, for those of you that don't know on a wrx its the pipe that goes from the exhaust manifolds to the turbo. Anyways I couldn't break this one nut loose so i got a huge half inch breaker bar on there and pulled and pulled to no avail. So i go ahead and slip on a cheater bar and pull and pull when, the SOB comes loose but catches me totally off guard. So off guard that i basically punch my self in the chin as hard as i can with a breaker bar in my hand. It stunned me, not surprised but actually almost knocked me out. I fell back, layed there for a few minutes staring at the ceiling and finally got up and started laughing at my dumbass self. Oh yeah i had a nice bruise on my chin too.

you can heal w/out money (most of the time). the car cant, LOL. ive had so many injuries they arent worth the space.

biggest mistake: i was performing a compression test on my 98 neon and left the adapter in the 4th cylinder. honestly, i was teaching my pre-teen neighbors how to check for the right compression, so i guess i got distracted. when i went to put in my 4th SP, i noticed something was very wrong (i.e it was way too far out of the head), but for whatever reason (guess i wasnt thinking)...i decided to start the car. i almost killed a freaking 10 year old with a spark plug bomb. needless to say, my neighbors dont like me so much. it looked cool though. ;)

I went a little too strong when tightening the spark plugs and broke it in half. Top part came out with my socket and the bottom part was in the head. 10 minutes of the longest ass kicking self moment of my life.

Started modding it.

Took it to a Mitsubishi dealership under warranty, and expected them to take care of the problems.

Boy was that dumb of me.

did to my car: put ass ugly stickers on and riding around town with my underglos on and stereo up loud. ricer days...

did to myself while working on the car: during the process of installing my turbo set up, i was underneath tightening my fuel filter on with a wrench. well i was kinda looking up, the wrench slipped off the nut, BAm!!! right into my forehead. i had a knot the length of the handle of the wrench across my forehead for days. lol

I bought a DSM...That was stupid enough. ;)
But seriously, when I was installing my catback, I sheard the stud off of the catalytic convertor and sliced my index finger to the bone at the same time. (Gloves don't always protect you.) So I had to let it sit on stands for a few days until I got a resonator to replace it.

After my rebuild I fired up the engine and realized I did not put in the rear main seal. uhg!!!!!!


Interior exterior regrets. Completely sanded smooth all my plastic interior pieces. Covered them in surfacer, sanded, sealed, paintedm them lexus red and after all this work, the paint just cracks all the time. Chunks fall off in crevices. I even used a plastic/abs adhesive promoter. Just a stupid, stupid mistake.

I bought tokico shocks.. not once.. but twice.. and these are fucked too.. the blues are pieces of shit, don't waste your money. It's not even on sportlines, just pro-kits. Also, tightened bolts on the cam caps to 7ft lbs instead of in/lbs yep.. one sheared off inside the head and I had to helicoil it out.. that fucking SUCKED! Also, I trusted a friend to keep tension on the tensioner pulley on the timing belt while i set the time and put on the belt.. turns out he didn't.. a week later i'm off 3 teeth and a few bent valves. thank you interference heads.
oh ya.. bought a spec clutch.. those suck major ass!! it blew out and fried my synchros.

This same exact thing happened to me changing the fuel filter. Had a good sized bump.

Stupidest thing I did though was decide I really really wanted some mickey D's while drinking at NIU. The drive thru was literally in the same parking lot as my friend's apartment, so we hopped in my car, drove thru, got our food, then I decided to make a U turn in the parking lot and floor it into one of those large straight curbs. Fucked my bumper up nicely....

Captain Half-Ass, here. I actually eyeballed my piston ring end gaps. Nothing better than a fresh, $2500 rebuild with 10.5:1CR pistons that pulls down less than stock compression numbers.

14,000 miles later, a wrist pin lock failed and the block nuked itself. I still don't think the two are related, but you never know...

First mod: Ebay CAI. I bought the bypass also in case of hydro lock, and went to install whole system. Had to cut pipe to fit on the bypass, but was too eager to just get it on, so I just laid it aside! So, I put on the CAI, shut the hood and started her up, drove for about 20 minutes before I heard a loud bang in my motor, then my tire. The bypass fell out of the engine bay and I ran over it... *Not the stupid part*. The stupid part was not going back to get it, because about 3 months later, I ran through a nice size puddle, hydro-locked the motor, and have now spent close to 9k in parts, labor etc. to get this baby running above and beyond. Fun times tough.

I think after 9 years I can think of a few stupid things.

When I first got the car and changed the oil, and didn't know jack s#it, I jacked the car up under the floor board instead of under a suspension mounting point or some other solid surface. Nothing a mallet couldn't fix (plus a little paint under the car to make sure I didn't get any rust where the sheet metal bent, and a check under the carpet for the same thing) but very dumb.

Or the time I drilled two small holes in the plastic piece in the trunk to line up to the studs on the piece of metal(or bracket, or whatever it is) that comes with a stock CD changer, so it would hold in place better, not realizing that the bolts hold it in place just fine and that I should have just removed the bracket in the first place...

Or how about the time I decided to actuall y try and put a sheet metal manifold on the car that wasn't fully designed for the car, and could get it on the car but coudln't get anything else (throttle body, pressure sensor, etc) to bolt up to it

Or the first time I put cams in the car and did not read the part number too closely and did not know they were Neon cams, so when I turned the car over I got an exhaust pulse out of my intake.

I forgot about the time when i changed my nitrous jets and put the nozzle in accidentaly sideways. I had the loudest and biggest intake and exhaust backfire i have heard to this day. every vaccume hose on the car was blown off and i shot a huge flame out the exhaust. I thought it was blown up for sure but nothing was damaged. Oh yeah it happened infront of a bus stop and everyone sitting there shit them selves.

The stupidest thing I ever did to my car was have altezza's on it for a couple of months. What the hell was I thinking?

I pulled the engine, and after double/triple checking that all the wires/hoses etc... were disconnected, I still managed to completely miss the fuel hose. Ripped it right out of the fuel filter. Bought another fuel line as a replacement from a 2gnter but apparently there are two fuel hose types (one a banjo style, the other a screw in kind) and it won't fit. This rebuild was only supposed to take me a few months, but I've had it in the garage for like 6.

Thanks to 2gnt, I haven't done 1/2 of the stupid things I probably would have. We'll wait until I turbo someday...

I broke my tranny bolting it to the block
Shredded my throttle cable lowering in the new engine
broke 2 AC sensors engine vs plastic

90mph feint on a straight. Lets just say all the countersteering and clutch kicking in the world didn't save me from riding my car up over a bank at a tree. A foot to the left and i would have been dead. I still do feints/flicks when it's wet out but i do low speed entries and learned how to work the clutch and ebrake to drift an ff. With my new tires, sliding is a rare thing since they weren't cheap.

When i first got my car, I had overcooked a drift on a dirt road, kicked the ass end up over a bank and filled my car, window/sunroof tracks full of sand. I couldn't see and my car was fucking filthy. Took about 3 days to clean everything up.

I was cleaning out my cat a while back and ran around town with an open header reving at random people to make them jump. That was a noise ordinance ticket waiting to happen. Never again.


I also launched my car out of anger and snapped my trans mount last week. Because the trans mount broke, my driver side axle got fucked. On jackstands my car sits. :(

Another stupid thing i did was put house speakers in my back seat when i blew my highs out with a 300watt rms amp. I felt like such a ricer.

The dumbest thing I did to my car, was put lambo doors on it...I weigh 330lbs....boy Do i slide in and out real well around them! (thumbs down)

The dumbest thing to myself- Wasnt on my eclipse....But I was helping a friend put a clutch in his civic, and he wouldnt bring it over for my air tools so we did it in his gravel driveway...and the tranny wouldnt go upinto place....so im pushing as hard as I could till I pushed the entire car off the jack stands. and nearly killed myself 3 friends lifted the front end to get me out....and straight to the ER 44 stitches later and a concussion later, we were back at the house getting that tranny in place!

Totalled my 1990 Infiniti Q45 on my 20th Bday.

That car was a beast. 285 hp, rwd, luxury sedan with power to spare
