This is just for curiosity's sake. If there was a giant 2GNT meet in one of these areas, at which area would you be most likely to actually make it. Fly or drive, it doesn't matter. Assume you've got more than a couple months' notice and that we don't actually have anything planned at this time.

(But I will mention that 2008 marks the official 10th Anniversary of 2GNT.com.)

St. Louis....Centralized...I've never been, and my wife has family there.

I'd be down for St. Louis as I could stay w/ family :)
But it's still a 20 hour minimum drive.

Heh, my house. It's the center of everything lol. Not really though but Austin is damn good time. Plenty of nice roads up here too. :) I actually have neighbors now ... but for the most part the cul de sac is still all mine.

One vote for Texas as well. I remember the Saturday night parties on 6th street in Austin...:)

I voted chicago, its really the only place i could go.

I could do Indy, Chi-town, or St. Louie.. really most places in the midwest. I would be willing to make it a trip to So-Cal, but I'd have to get help with the airfare or a hookup from my dear old friend John =) haha. I'd love to do it tho! I've been here a long time as well, and it would be awesome to meet the rest of these crazy guys/ and girls!

Im here in Texas, The Supra's do a little gig through Texas. They meet in DFW drive/trailer down to Houston and do some dyno runs. then they drive/trailer to Austin to a drag strip and then somewhere else to road race. They do make a week of it. But then agian thats why we got the shootout.

Vegas would been nice also..., I just gotta finish putting the engine in the car...

I would say Texas or St.Louis would be the most practical for me. I doubt I would make the so-cal or vegas meet even though I would love to.

For the best turnout, probably it would be best for everyone to meet in Norwalk at the shootout.

It's not like we won't have the time when we are there, since we arrive friday and only race 1/2 of the day on sunday.

Also, lots of people have been there already, they know how to get there, it's a familiar setting, and we have more than one reason/excuse to go out to the event (Shootout AND meeting) since most people would probably be able to afford (in terms of money and time) to go to one long distance event per year.

I can understand being excited at holding a meeting in someone's backyard, or where we have the greatest concentration of members, and/or a more central location, but at Norwalk makes the most sense to me.

I think giving people TWO reasons to make the trip (Shootout AND meeting) will make turnout much higher. and, if it rains we still have a meeting :)

Some good points, Todd. Just thinking about different options we might have. A room in Norwalk during the Shootout runs about $400. It's also at least an hour from a major airport, so I'm just mulling over different ideas to see if we couldn't come up with something that cost less and was easier to get to.

For example, on weekends in some major cities, it's not hard to get a hotel for under $60/night because the business traffic dies down. That's a savings of around $200 right there, and if people can fly right into town, someone can more than likely run over and pick them up really quick without too much trouble.

So it's just a thought. Looks like a split between Texas and Chicago for now...

I vote for somewhere in the midwest, Central to the entire USA, Chicago, STL, KC somewhere like that so everyone could possibly make it and have about the same drive/flight time.

The funny thing is.. we'd have the largest 2gnt meet of all time.. and there would only be a handful of actual 2gnt's.

I agree with Todd though. If we make this "largest meet" a part of the shootout, then it would give people a double incentive to go. Also so many of us make it there every year anyway, I can see convincing a few more people to try to make it. I know it's tough on the guys from so-cal.. but maybe we can do something to help them out??

Ok, first off, isnt the whole part of a meet to BRING your car? Why fly? Second, St. Louis or Kansas City would be best since they are the most centralized places to meet for EVERYONE. I gaurantee that there is no way i can make it to Norwalk, or up to Michigan, or all the way out to Cali. I could possibly do Texas, but that still leaves a lot of people driving REALLY,REALLY, far.

The whole point of the meet isn't the car, it's the community that spawned because of this car. A lot of us have moved on from this car, or the car has aged beyond the ability to drive it 300 miles one way to a meet. This site has always been about the car, but this site wouldn't have ever become what it is, without the amazing community that has held itself together all these years. Look how many of these guys that stay here, have nothing to do with a 2gnt.. that is evidence of what kind of brotherhood has grown here. I've met a ton of these guys, it started by a common interest of a single car, and grown to be some of my closest and best friends.

If there wasn't a race at the Shootout, I don't think most of us would even notice. Those who don't sleep in and miss most of the Shootout are probably so hungover that morning, they don't do much more than bitch about how hungover they are.
