..which is weird for me. Usually I'm a "fuck off and die" kinda guy, but i just did something totally out of character and I don't know why.

I was on the balcony of my second floor apartment, smoking a cigarette and drinking an adult beverage when I noticed something black moving around in te pool below me. Yeah, my apartment balcony overlooks the pool courtyard; it's tits in the summer. SO i see this black thing and my initial impression is that it's a leaf being blown on the surface of the water by the wind, because it's moving pretty fast. After watching it for a bit, I realize that it's not a leaf - it's a rodent of some sort, swimming it's ass off, trying to find a way out of the watery death it has somehow resigned itself to. Usually, i figure if an animal is dumb enough to get itself into a position that is going to cause its death it's getting what it deserves (humans included!). I walked down there and watched the little sucker swim away from me and try to hide itself along the edges of the pool for a bit. It had probably been there a while. Within a few minutes it just stopped moving, it floated there on the edge watching me. For whatever reason, I was moved. I felt bad for the little fucking rodent, and grabbed the net off the fence and fished it out. The stupid thing was so beat that once I put it on the sidewalk, it couldn't do anything but shiver and sit there. It couldn't even run away from Big Bad predator Dino. I told it "Don't say I never did anything for you," and went back inside. Once I got back in here I realized that I just saved a fucking rodent pest from drowning. WTF?

Weird.

Synopsis: I rescued a drowning mouse from the pool and I'm not sure why i bothered.

Regardless, i still can't help but wonder what moved me to save a pest rodent from a certain and deserved death. Hell, i've drowned rats in a bucket before.

Weird. Last week I caught myself feeding a stray cat hanging around my apartment balcony. Normally I throw heavy objects at them or feed them to a friend's boa when the fucker wouldn't stop pissing on my car.

Karmacally (if thats a word) you might have just saved yourself from something equally shitty. Who knows.

The end of the world is imminent. That is the only plausible explanation.
