Following a previous post about how old all of you are and what you do got me thinking. How many people on here are working their dream job? By that I mean, when you were a kid or a teenager and thought "I want to be a(an) ______ when I grow up", did you make that happen? Did you fall assbackwards into it? or are still aspiring to it? do you think it will ever happen? I had a list of the top 3 jobs I wanted when I "grew up" and I now have the #2 on my list.

I do something I like, I dont think I ever had a "real dream job" aside from being an astronaut or a billionare. What I do now is just a job, and i hope to god not to keep doing it forever.

Like I said in the thread you mentioned about occupations, I'm a computer labtech/AV/IT guy on campus.

ya I wanted to be a Doctor or a Vet.. I won't do either, but I'm still in the medical profession.. so it's a tradeoff.

I wouldn't say it was my dream job. But I have a very cool job at very cool place.

I never had a dream job, but I am doing something I enjoy. I just never knew how much I enjoyed it until I was in my early teens.

I work in IT.

Not even close. I wanted to be an archaeologist growing up (still do). I manage a call center. I've been debating on going back to school.

Not quite, IT is painful work sometimes. I think Dino (or anyone else in IT for that matter) will back me up here, users can (and frequently do) make your life hell. But I wouldn't want to be in any other field. Plus no matter how much power an executive holds, in the end it's the Admin who truly holds all the cards.

Ha!, not even close. My driving record absolutely screwed me when I was younger. Now that everything is cleared, I'm contemplating taking 1 more year of trade school so I'll be refreshened. Then I can do what I want lol.

No. When I was little I wanted to compete in dressage professionally. I was almost there when I qualified for the Olympics, but then broke my back and had to quit. Later I wanted to be an architect - started college and everything. Now I sell copiers.

I hate my job, don't want to do it and don't want any part of it any more. But i have too.

Not really what I wanted to do as a kid, but I like what I do and the branch of IT I'm in.

I'd venture to say a majority of people on this site have absolutely no clue what dressage is, or for that matter much about horses in general. I don't think this is the right demographic to be discussing such things. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a Jaguar service advisor. It's not my dream job but I have always loved cars and I'm around cars all day. I don't think I'll own a Jaguar or Land Rover anytime soon (maybe an XKR or RR Sport) but high end cars is where the $ is at in the long run even though the hours are really long. My dream job would be "the Stig" from Top Gear.

I enjoy my job but it's certainly not my dream job. My dream jobs consist of tons of cash, beautiful women, and fast cars. I'm not quite sure what kind of job that is but it's my dream.

I think Mark is just being a smartass. For those of us who are not familiar with this area, could you explain it to us?

Also, I love my job. I work IT for a McDonald's Owner/Operator. I manage the office computers and servers and do Point-of-Sale support for the 53 restaurants that we have. So I'm over about 500 computers, 6 servers, and support some 3,000 employees. While things can be stressful I love this job.

I think (and I'm probably wrong here) that it is some kind of competetive equestrian training. Where the rider and his mount try to make different chalenges of agility and speeds (i.e. canter, trot, gallop, etc...) appear as effortless as possible. I think dressage stems from a french word Dressuur?? meaning "horse ballet."

Dream jobs? Not even close. I wanted to either to be a Marine Biologist or a Veterinarian... then in high school, I discovered marijuana. Now I'm 33 and would still like to be a Vet. Maybe someday I'll get my ass to school. *sigh

I wasn't saying you were wrong for posting it. I was just saying it probably is a bit of a stretch to think most people on here know anything about dressage, this is technical car site. Thats all, don't take offense to it.

This is kind of funny because I am interviewing for my future job currently and I'm really afraid that I may not like what I do.

About to graduate with my degree in Civil Engineering it's a scary time. Not sure if I want to go the design or construction route. I'm really afraid to get my license at this point because I would be putting my name on a set of plans that could potentially fail costing excessive amounts of money or even human life. Right now I'm studying for my initial test called the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) that I am taking on Saturday. It is an 8 hour exam on everything I've learned in school. Commercial construction seems my route so I'm sticking to that but I'm keeping my options open.

I have a job interview in Chicago on the 16th of next month, maybe that will be my dream job?

I'm guessing any job I have as a civil engineer will not be a dream job, but it will be a job I slighty enjoy and be able to get out of bed with a smile on my face. To me thats what it's all about.

To me a dream job is just that, a dream.
