28075, old people putting notes on my car . .

thought you all might enjoy this

quick background
i go to surgery on fridays saturdays and sundays at about 630AM
ive lived at this house for a year and a half already, and the block i live on is 6 houses long

so this afternoon im driving the wifes car around to do arrends and i come home to find this note in an envelope on my windshield.

Dear Neighbor,
your noisy car is waking people up here on Rees St early in the A.M.
Would you please exit your drive and go west instead?
This would be of great help. this request is a serious plee- older people have sleep issues that is hard for a younger person to realize. you are a good neighbor and we don't mean to single out a young man who likes a fixed up car.
please consider this.
sincerely,
Rees St Neighbors

would it be bad to put some ear plugs and a bottle of Lunesta on their dorsteps? lol

I wish i lived there because it would be awesome to see their reaction to my wrx With a disconnected catback running a straight 3" DP. Is your car really that loud?

Hmmm, how loud must your car be? Dayum, If it doesn't affect your schedule, sure I'de do it. If you have to wake up early for this shit, write a note yourself saying:

"Dear cockmunchers,

If I were to take the route you suggested, it would be me that would be getting less sleep, since I would have to accomodate for the longer route. So I believe that the amount of sleep I would be deprived of would outweight the 5.3 secs the sound is audible to you. If I happen to wake up with spare time, sure I'll go west, but if I don't be sure to wear some ear plugs. Thank you for your consideration and go fuck yourself."

But, I'de most likely just go the route they suggested, untill the people on the west start leaving you notes :P

We all know people with loud cars have bigger penis than your average joe.

But, seriously there is no need for unmuffled cars in the neighborhood. If your neighbors discretely placed that note on your window, treat that as a sign that they respect you enough and trust you will be more responsible (ie: put the muffler back on, or ease up when coming home).

If the note is not effective in alleviating the noise pollution, don't be surprise at finding a brick on back seat in the morning. :P

Of course we have not heard your side of the story yet.

Take it easy out there.

They are being cool with you, you should show them the same respect. My car isn't super loud but I definitely come through my neighborhood at almost idle.

my note back

to whom it may concern.

I took your advice and went west. I got lost getting to work. Because of this. I was late for a surgery. I work at a hospital. Now bob is dead. You see since I was late getting to work Bob crashed on the operating table. I was not there to save Bob. So now I have to tell Bobs wife he is dead. What will his 3 kids do without their father. But this is not your problem enjoy your sleep.

hehehe im a dick

if there is anyone that can make your life miserable, it's your neighbors. I'd have laid off going through the neighborhood...

QFT.

OP, They didn't want to put a note on your car and they obviously respect you. Hell, they are probably terrified that you're going to do something rash and retaliate like hosting the next Fast and the Furious event on your street. The vast majority of "neighbors" would have done something retarded like slash your tires or have their dog shit on your lawn for days on end. I wish I had neighbors like yours. $0.02.

You idiot. I hope you didn't write that crap. Good friendly neighbors are worth way more then 2 extra minutes of your time a day.

Your neighbors are being very cool with you. Try to stay low in the gears and off the gas when you leave for work in the morning. Don't be an asshole and reply with something stupid like everyone else suggested.

Your neighbors are awesome. My old neighbor just called the cops on a daily basis until they waited for me to come down RT. 1 on the way home and gave me a ticket. Worst thing was when I passed the guy I was not even in gear and was just idleing. I knew he didn't have a reason to give me a ticket that night, and found out later that she had been calling regularly about my car prompting the unofficial stakeout... Treat them with equal respect, as I have no doubt that you will. I put a scilencer in mine but only to avoid the ticket.

Why does your (or your wife's) car have a louder muffler than any other car on the street?

If it's a non-turbo and your exhaust is loud, I would have already thrown a brick through your window. If it's a turbo and you're not spooling in reverse, it should be quiet.

Are you seriously too cheap to go spend $50 at a muffler shop and get your shit fixed?

i dont get how my car is loud, i have a full exhaust with a cat.
is not an open cut out, and its not like im going fast enough down the street to even build enough boost to get the BOV going beyond a a little "pffft"

im usually considerate and i dont act like a dick around the neighborhood. i even turn down the stero and just cruise when im getting close.

ahhh well

Even if your car isn't that loud you have to remember that old people are usually mad at life and easily angered. They have nothing better to do then peek behind the curtains and see what's going on in the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure that this whole mess started up as gossip between old people trying to figure out where you go so early in the morning and then escalated to a whole other issue of your car being too loud. It's a touchy subject because if you give in and do what they want then they'll get the idea that they can push you around whenever they want and will expect you to obey the next time they think of another dumb complaint. If you don't do what they say they will call the cops and it'll be your word against the whole neighborhood. If I were you I would drive through the neighborhood at like 5mph and if that's not good enough then have your car's decible level checked to see if your within your state's limit for noise pollution. If you are then there's nothing the neighbors can do.

fixed.

I would fix your car so it doesn't bother them anymore. *and this is coming from someone who likes to escalate things with whiny people* I mean, they are your neighbors. The best thing neighbors can do for each other is to simply be QUIET IMO.

word. Someone inside my hammer head keeps calling my HOA about parking on my own driveway. But since its a hammerhead, i can't 'park' there. So I just park on the street as everyone else does so its all congested. Fucking idiots. I would just drive the other way as well. If they are considerate enough to leave you a note, and not be shit bitches and call the house police then just do them a favor. And besides, you can't write a letter back to someone when you don't know who it was that left it on your car. The only thing you could do is leave your reply right where they left their note on your car, then just speed a bunch through the neighborhood hoping they come back again.

They are lucky I dont live there.....The harley is a tad loud at 2am even when babying it. The Superbee is another one worthy of waking the dead.

Personally a note to me is spineless and disrespectful. I would like to sit down over a cup of coffee or coke and discuss the issue to verify they have proff it is indeed my car and not some honda bringing his slut girlfriend home after his little gangbang party.

I do respect the fact they didnt just call the cops but to not leave a number to call and discuss the issue neighborly is just as bad.

Personally, I think I'd give the other route a shot. Doing something so simple will earn you their respect. If they are aware of cars coming up and down the street, so much so that they know which one is yours, odds are good that they also keep an eye out for other suspicious activity.

Good neighbors are hard to find. Should something happen to your car, you would be able to go door to door, asking if anyone heard anything and these elderly types would recognize you as the respectful young man who works hard on his car and might be able to assist in catching the culprits.

Just a thought. It's simply a shy older neighbor who doesn't know you and wanted to avoid getting into an altercation with a young buck with a 3/4 torque wrench some afternoon. If you make an effort for them, they might stop in and thank you, personally some time. Maybe even with home made cookies or something.

You never know...
