rainbow 6 is a good game and also mlb 07 . those are the only 2 games i played so far .

Haven't played MLB 07, but I heard that one was really good too.

Probably will be a while until it goes down THAT far haha. There are rumors for a 399 one for christmas. I only spent a total of 698 w/ tax for mine and got another controller.

If you're interested in modding it or installing linux for various reasons, I'm your man. Same thing goes for anyone else; PSP's, Xboxes/360's, All Playstations. Have iron, will mod. :)

I haven't really looked into it, but what are the advantages to running Linux on the ps3?

It will allow you (with a little tweaking) to run homebrew applications, import, and backup games.

As for PS2/other console modding modding, it will do the same as above. You can go with a hard-mod (usually requires soldering, but is more reliable and powerful) or a soft-mod (which is usually just used for playing backups.) There are also other options if you have a 1g (not the slim-line) PS2; With a USB HDD there is an app. you can buy that'll let you rip games on to the HDD and play them from there.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not necessarily condoning game copying/piracy, I just feel that if you pay XXX hundred dollars for your console; you should be able to have full functionality, and not a crippled machine. Once I get home I'll upload some pics and details of some of the mods I've done.

Is there a way to get your PS2 saves on the memory cards transferred onto the PS3 HD? I'm sure I will have to buy something, but I didn't see anything at the store when I got it.

I just traded in a bunch of my old games yesterday and bought Rainbow 6 Vegas and Need for Speed Carbon (only SOMEWHAT fun car game out right now, and only 25 bucks). I know have those and Resistance and Motorstorm. Motorstorm isn't as fun as I thought it would be, it's kind of hard. If I'm in 1st and I hit something and my car blows up, by the time I am back in the race with a new car, I am in 10th place.

The 360 doesn't have a public hard-mod yet. You can, however, flash and re-write the firmware for your DVD drive. Thereby allowing you to play backups. It's a drawn out process and is very tedious. The benfits are gerat but the downside to this is that Microshaft can detect this. They aren't currently banning people from live because of this; However, it seems likely that they will in the future. My personal advice would be to wait until a reliable hard-mod that can be turned off while playing online is released.
