I was walking in a straight line looking for face wash, when this little shit and his brother are running down an aisle. The little one brushes by me tripping and falls on the ground. I turn around and say oh i'm sorry, the kid and his brother are laughing leading me to believe that they meant to do it. So they keep on running around and the little one keeps coming up to me and brushing by me. As i'm rounding a corner the little one was facing the shelf and when i go to walk by he sticks his leg out trying to trip me. Just as i thought they were done i started walking to a different aisle still looking for the face wash. When the little 8 year old starts following me and talking shit. I kinda half turn to look at him, I'm thinking to myself WTF is this kids problem is he disabled or something? Then he runs up and starts hitting me in the arms pretty hard saying you jerk you tripped me. As he's hitting me i walk by his flea bitten trailer trash mom who looks at me like i'm the asshole. There must have been 10 people looking at me thinking i was the asshole picking on the kid. I just gave her a horrified look and kept walking. Never once when i was a kid would i have done something like that to someone. I was so pissed. What can you do to an 8 year old to defend yourself without getting sued? If it was my son I would have slapped the taste out of his god damn mouth.

You're thread title made me LOL. But yeah I can't stand all the little bastards there seems to be these days. Hell I'm only 22 and I know I would have had the shit slapped out of me if I acted like that when I was a kid.

This just shows the wierd times that we're living in today. The other day some punk 12yr old looking kid is walking down the middle of a busy street like he's cool. I beep at him to move cause he's blocking my path and the little asshole starts cursing at me. Then I go to the park with my three year old son and some 5 yr old kid starts pushing him for no reason and trying to punch him. I tell my son to punch him in the face but my son isn't that kind of kid so he hits the kid back soft. The kid then pushes my son onto a slide and sits on his leg. At his point I grabbed the kid and threw him off my son. His idiot dad starts apologizing to me and I just ignored his ass. The dad knew his son was being a dumbass all along just never said anything until he noticed I got mad. Then as i'm leaving the park some 10 yr old fat kid comes out of his house and picks up a long branch that's on the sidewalk and starts chasing me like he's gonna hit me with it. The end of the world must be near. :shrug

Thats another reason I hate Walmart.

It really had nothing to do with race, at first i actually thought it was funny. I would have reacted the same way if the kid was of any race or ethnicity. I just had no idea how to react to the situation, the kid just had no control of himself and it was obvious that his parents were shitbags.

I just turned 20 (like a few days ago) and even though I had no father figure, I was raised by my mom and big sis, I KNOW they would have slapped the shit out of me if I ever had done something like that. As a matter of fact they might have had to do that once or twice, now that I think about it :P

I think the whole reason that these kids are aggressive to others is because their parents are aggressive to them and it seems normal. Positive reinforcement would better, but a little punishment never hurts..too much :7

I think just the opposite. That child clearly wasn't shown punishment in a constructive manner. On the one hand you can't just kick the crap out of your kid for no reason but you need to some fucking boundaries and the later is what is wrong with kids these days. God damn boundaries.

By shear contrast, a friend and i were driving in niles, and outside a walgreens this mexican lady actually did the correct thing, and slapped her child across the face for talking back... some lady, (fat, white trash type) saw this and started screaming at the mexican lady. Yea. For disciplining her child. when we drove past again, there were 2 cop cars there questioning people. what the fuck.

What I said though isn't merely opinion, but scientific fact. According to the Pavlovian doctrine. Not only do we need to punish a subject for doing the WRONG thing, we need to REINFORCE (people may say "reward") doing the right thing.

Otherwise they'll just keep doing the wrong things, just not in front of you, or to you, but to some one else, as in this case. They may be perfect angels to their mother, because they know if they were to do the same thing to her, she'd beat the tar off of them. So they do it to some random stranger, who is in no way related to the aversive stimulus their mother would provide.

1. Personal responsibility
2. Consistency

No means no. Now mean now. Giving a child what he wants to get him to behave merely reinforces the "causing a scene as a means to get what I want" duality. I've got no kids just yet, but when I do, they're going to learn very fast that, "Don't make me come back there" means I'll fucking come back there. :P

Dr. Iggs got it right on the money. Also, the key is timing. Don't punish or reward when the behavior is long past do it on the spot, otherwise the link will not be made.

i think all and all you're going about this all wrong. When i go anywhere like that by myself, i look as angry as i possibly can and dont speak to anyone, simply for the convenience factor. This works extremely well in the ghetto where my friend lives. we go to the "stab mart" liquor store, i can make a pan handler stop dead in his tracks with my evil stare. lol.
