27138, I'm a mullet...

I could feel a little something from the right front of my mustang, like a wheel bearing going out. It's not a vibration, not brake pulsing, etc, almost like a heavy tick. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about.

While cruising down the road, if I turned to the left it would go away, to the right it would get worse. This is typical of a wheel bearing. I ordered the hub ($60), brake pads while I'm in there (only $20), then searched all over creation for the spindle nut ($20) and dust cap ($10) (I put a screw driver through mine :)).

Pull it all apart, roll the tire off to the side, put everything back together, torque the spindle nut to the 258 ft. lbs., and grab the tire.

As I'm rolling the tire to the car, I notice a chunk missing from the inner shoulder of the tire. I'm sitting at discount tire now getting two new 275/40-zr17's on the front as I type this :( Guess I have a good spare hub now :shrug

you're not the first one to go through a ton of hassle to replace the wrong thing, nor will you be the last :P

Want to buy the set of main bearings I got to fix my wrist pin lock failure a couple years back? :P

Been there. Done that.

I dunno how the hell I missed this while taking the wheel off.
