Just thought I would introduce myself, before people begin to wonder who the hell this "99atxguy" is. I usually just lurk around on here for info on the 420a and the a604 if I run into problems as well as ideas for mods. Met a few of you at the Shootout (was there with the SoVadsm guys), Dino great jalepenos. My GS is stock all it has is a short ram and muffler, my motto was if I'm not going to go crazy on it unless I rebuild it, which will come next year. Been thinking Heavily on the 2.4 swap and it just may happen when after a deployment(Navy - Airframes) I will be going on soon.
already got an extra 2gnt head, just need everything else and that won't be too hard to find at the junkyard at all, not including the fabbing thats require.

I would like to suggest a manual transmission swap as your first real mod. Before you try the 2.4 swap.

lol, I've thought about that but I decided to stick with it and rebuild that too. Have had no problems with it other than when it began overheating and going in limp mode, flushed the fluid and installed a tranny cooler, no problems since.

Hiyo. For 700ish bucks the TX swap was the greatest gift I could give my car. The a604 is just so much of a hindrance to the power of the 420a, you'll fall in love with your car all over again if you do the swap, and it only took me a collective 6 or 7 hours to do (most of it spent trying to figure out how to route the clutch fluid hardline under the battery, lol )

like I said, I'm going to stick with the a604. Swapping to MTX, to me would be like taking advice from the 4G63 guys to drop the GS and buy a turbo one instead. Not to be a dick about it, But I'm not going to swap it out.
My deployment will be spent buying all the 2.4 parts and turbo parts I will need, Maybe have it done by next year's shootout, we have a hobby shop on base with just about any tool you need minus a welder.
