In case it grenades, it helps contain the parts. Usually there is a bulletproof blanket over top as well.
im shooting for 600hp and daily driven, 8's on pump gas, driven to and from the track with the radio blasting. I sold the genII V10 to my bosses husband yesterday and im going with a 440 and 426 heads. Its about the money right now and the viper rear end and suspension is way to expensive vs a 8 3/4 solid rear. Id need a dry sump on the v10 to get it to fit under the hood and its way to fucking expensive when I add everything up.
later on the boosted V10 will roar, but its Moparlicious either way.

I forget where it happened but back in the 70's a blower launched and killed a camera man on a bridge over the track. Since then NHRA requires the blower straps in case the cases separate.
Looks nice, is it a 426 or 528? Hmmn now thay you say your shooting for 600 I would say its a 426?

Can you find something like that for me to put in my Regal? I have no problem committing "sins" like that, putting a Mopar in a GM.
Oddly enough I'm having a really hard time finding a bow-tie 350.

wow thats surprising, 350's have always been readily available just about everywhere ive lived.
the 632 is nice ;)
edit: Terry, it'll be a 440 wedge with 426 heads and likely fuel injected. Im looking at a stroker kit though. Damn, another 1300$. Replica block will be here in a few weeks. Sweet!
I want to run a viper spec T56, that way when I do decide to run a V10 ill be a third of the way there.

Not quite. (lifted from SA)
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3340777The cameraman was on a platform a couple of feet above track level and a hundred yards downstream of the finish line. Two top fuel cars were qualifying (they were going only 220 mph in those days) and one car had the rear wing break. That lifted the rear wheels off the ground, which let the engine freewheel, and the overspeeding engine blew the supercharger off the block. The torque from the overspeed also rolled the fueler, which slammed into the guardrail. The poor cameraman followed his instincts and quickly panned the camera to follow the crashing car, which was still bouncing off the guardrail. He had the camera pointed downtrack and never saw the supercharger, which had flown over the guardrail, bounded through the grass, then struck the cameraman in the back and killed him. Everyone in the control tower was watching the crashing top fuel car, and it was a few moments before we saw the cameraman on the ground after he had been thrown off the platform by the flying supercharger.

I broke the links because the second pic shows Joe Rooks post-impact (not gory or anything. Black/white, grainy and fairly safe for work).

I figured it was something like that. Figured I'd ask rather than assume, though.

Although those particular straps look like they are fastened to the car with zip ties....
