Our DC got a heavy power surge at 3:59am on Tuesday. It fried our enterprise surge protectors, so we got wired direct to keep power. Then at 4:38am, it happened again and fried the batteries for our generator, so it didn't kick on, causing 100% blackness.
15 hours later we were up 100% and only had to restore one database.
I took today off, too bad it was for surgery and not because I'm a sys admin.
**EDIT**
Our DC houses over 400 windows server, 291 Linux server, I dunno how many mainframes, an EMC SAN, and many other things. 15 hours and one bad database was nothing, IMO. We (sys admins) rock.
