That looks like a nice little oil filter, I would try it out but 89.99 for an oil filter isn't a priority right now.

90.00 is a little steep. I will stick with my K&N or Mobile 1 filters for the time being.

It may be similar to the K&N air filter: It flows great, but doesn't filter great. They mentioned what conventional oil filters do by comparing at specific microns, but do they say anything about theirs? No. I'm also wary about anyone who says the same thing more than once in one bulleted list. It's like they ran out of info and decided to regurgitate the environmental stuff.

I am running one on My eclipse I am not sure if it is worth the $14 price tag. But I do like the ability to use a socket on it. Anyways the filter number for our car is HP-2004. And you can pick one up at the local Advance Auto Parts.

Yeah.

* Notes: Less pleats than paper filter (too many pleats can end up restricting oil flow). Additional flow rate can help to increase oil pressure (but not beyond reasonable limits). Typical filtering is 50% 10 microns, 70% at 20 microns, 97% at 30 microns, and 99% at 40 microns. TOGA Oil Filters have 16 inlet holes for increased flow (Fram has 6, AcDelco 12, and Champion & Wick have 6).

Too bad there isn't one listed for a Ford F150. I run a Fram PH8A or equivalent on my 2G.

Neat, but i just use the OEM filters from mitsu. I buy them online from mentor mitsubishi by the case. That way they are dirt cheap lol and i only need to purchase filters once a year.

they as short as the stock ones? the $90 ones i mean? i scraped that black grip shit off the bottom of of a fram ph16 coming out of a parking lot a few weeks ago... anything taller could be disastrous....

I use the $2 champion labs filters. *brings up MS calculator* - this filter will start to pay for itself after 135,000 miles. Not very helpful there. Good for the environment? My filters get recycled (so I'm told by our hazardous waste recycler.) Save time? I don't know, do I still have to take it off and clean the thing every 3k?

it said in the ad every 7k miles. Pretty interesting IMO, but I am not going to pay $80 for it. The car I drive now is a company car so they pay for everything. Pretty cool Idea tho.

All filters are good for 7k miles. The standard used to be to change oil filters every other oil change, but they changed it to every oil change to make more money and so because it was hard to remember when it was last changed!

ALL filters are NOT good for 7k miles. There are so many other factors that come into play. Read the link I posted. If you live in a dusty environment, you want to change it more often because you can get build-up in your motor, oil filters get clogged, abnormal engine wear resulting in metal particles. I do the opposite in my yukon. I change the oil (10w30 synthetic) every 5k miles and change the filter every 2500 miles. Small price to pay to have some cleaner oil.

if you look at the Satan dealer recomended oil changes it does say that the fiilter should be changed every other change.
(like they know whats best for our cars :rolleyes )

The better your lubrication system, the longer your parts last...usually.


I change my oil at every 3000 miles and change the filter too. It's been common practice when i do my parents cars, friends cars or my own. I should start charging them....

Ah, I misread that as them saying what conventional filters do. In that case, what are the stats for conventional filters?

Typical numbers for paper element filters are 40% at 10 microns, 60% at 20 microns, 93% at 30 microns, and 97% at 40 microns.

That's listed as typical, so I'm sure there's some variance.

In my cougar, I change the oil so often it doesn't get much of a chance to get contaminated. My yukon & mustang, however, are different. I may invest in the better filters for my mustang since it's at 150k+ miles.
