All the years I've been buying and selling, it finally happened.
A kid from New Hampshire was selling what was supposed to be an authentic CWEST bumper that had a small crack in it that you couldn't see after it was bolted up.
He was willing to trade for evo parts so for shits and giggles, I offered him my AMS LICP and a walbro 255 in trade. He agreed.
I drove an hour and 1/2 to meet him and threw it in the backlseat and drove home.
While driving home, I looked at the backside and noticed it was fiberglass and not urethane. Genuine CWEST are urethane but I didn't really care because the urethane ones droop in the center near the air duct.
After I got it home, I started to inspect it a little better and noticed that most of the tabs where the holes to mount it to the car were sawed off. I also noticed that there are 2 dents in it. I don't know how you can DENT fiberglass, but they're there...
Oh well, I only paid $70 for the LICP and $40 for the fp. I'm sure I can unload the bumper to someone for $100 and at least get most of my money back. I'm sure since it's fiberglass, someone can rebuild the mounting tabs...

Ah, so you didnt REALLY get fucked. I thought you were going to say you sent X amount of cash and received nothing. I've done that one time, $150... it will never happen again.

I have to ask, Tony, when you were there with the guy - in person - why didn't you inspect the thing closer? You probably would have spotted the tabs that were sawed off and, if you could see that it was fiberglass in the rear view mirror, why didn't you notice it before you traded the parts? LOL.

This is what happens when you get mixed up with the body kit crowd. :nono

I didn't plan on keeping it or installing it on my car. It was only an investment since I traded him about $100 worth of crap for it. I just planned on cleaning it up and dumping it to some Evo-ricer for 2 bills...
I may just see how much it will cost to have some tabs glassed on and primer it so I can sell.

A little off topic but might make you feel better. A couple of years ago I was coming home from NY and was stuck in traffic at the tunnel's entrance. Some bums come walking up car to car asking if anyone wants to buy brand new shrink-wrapped $700 camcorders for $350. Of course everyone just tells the guys "No Thanks" but there's that one family that goes ahead and buys a camcorder. A few seconds later the bums quickly dissapear. Some guy in another car yells out his window to the family to open the box. The car with the family is like two cars ahead of me so I can see them opening the box. When they open the nicely shrink-wrapped box all they find is tons of tightly packed cardboard and newspaper. They get out of the car but the bums are nowhere to be found. Now that's what I call getting fucked. You didn't get scammed cause at least you have an item in your possesion which you can sell. I hope you feel a little better now. :+
