You spent over $600 for a phone that is on the slowest network in america :wallbash
Sorry, I can't justify that kind of money for a phone that will be the norm and free phone with a new plan a couple years down the road.

especially with no BlueTooth capability. connects to my car, my computer, my headset. i barely have to take it out of my pocket during the day. i aint ditching my wireless headset just to have white ipod cords for a headset again.

Biggest waste of money EVER.
Bluetooth is ONLY good for connecting a headset. That's it. EDGE and wifi only. No 3G. Fucking GAY. No file browser despite claiming a fully functioning MacOS. :rolleyes Picture emailing is limited to one attachment at a time. No custom ring tones. A music phone that can't change it's own ringtones? That's a joke, right? No document editor. Only a viewer. PLUS you can't save attatchments. -37 to smart phone score. No voice dialing No speed dial (I've tried that quicklist feature on my buddies and it blows) No video (unless through the browser) No MMS. Email only. What the fuck?
Root cracks are out but kiss your product warranty good by. This thing is missing some pretty basic features. 500 bucks and other than being a gussied up iPod my piece of shit RAZR out performs it.
All I can say is that I hope the second gen doesn't suck this bad.

It is real easy to knock it about what it cant do no 3g sucks i know but the wifi is fast as shit Apple is adding features with every update it gets flash support in a week or 2 web 2.0 apps too. No mss messages I have had 3 phones that can do that and never once did I send one. Just so you know most smart phones are only doc viewers so you cant edit a few new ones can but thats with windows mobile 6.0. Being that im not a kid anymore I dont care if my phone has ring tones. I agree Its kinda dumb that it cant do that. It may not do everything but what it can do is much much better than any phone on the market and on monday (i think) apple is anouncing the euro iphone. It has a bigger HD and 3g. Should be out in the states by the end of sept/oct. When that comes out ill get that too and give my chick the old one. Then I get Bjs on command some thing your razr cant get ya. :)
And I replyed to a post here sitting on the shitter

I was just reading in popular science about one of the competitor phones coming out with open source code. A few hundred less than the iphone but will be able to do whatever you want it to.

Yeah, it is.
I'll take a Curve any day of the week. At 200 less it performs much better as a mobile office. But look on the bright side, maybe Apple will release pretty candy colored cases to match that iBook. :P

25762, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by goalie40, Jul-07-07 04:49 PM
in short flash ring tones and a file browsing system Ichat ??
and dont forget it supports web 2.0 so its not a closed system just no apps yet give it a month or 2 there will be a crap load of stuff for it the 8800 curve is a nice office phone but a crappy music and movie phone
from engadgetmobile.com It's almost a foregone conclusion that Apple will be firing out iPhone updates in the not too distant future to address an array of niggles the general population has with its first foray into the cellphone realm, but based an "informed" poster over at HowardForums, that time could be sooner rather than later. According to a supposed Apple employee who opened his / her trap in a casual coffee meet, the iPhone will eventually support file system access so that users can more easily manipulate the content stored within without having to ask iTunes' permission. Additionally, it was suggested that iChat would be added "before Leopard," less restricted ringtone access was on the way, and there was even a confirmation that Flash support will indeed be added soon. Still, we'd take all of this with a dash of salt (at least for the time being), but hopefully our collective patience will pay off soon enough, eh?

If you want to spend that kind of money, but a Nokia e61i
http://www.nokiausa.com/A4409027
Not sold in the U.S. currently but you can find them sold elsewhere and ship them here.

Yeah, and the 200 bucks I saved just bought a nice music/video player that has a *gasp* serviceable battery!
So here's my choices:
- Carry around 2 small devices that perform amazingly by themselves - Carry around 1 that does them both but ½ assed
Simply put, the iPhone does not live up to it's price tag. That's not saying that it wont do well on the market. America has a metric fuck ton of people with toy poodles on their laps while driving their C class that absolutely NEED that high tech fashion accessory (remember the candy colored cases Jobs!) to further divert their attention from the task at hand. ;)

Bleh. You people would laugh at my Nokia 9300.

I don't see why phone companies have to put everything all in one nowadays. It never turns out how it is suppose to be. You want an MP3 player? Buy an MP3 player. You want a cell phone? Buy a cell phone. You want to look at the internet on the road? Get a laptop, etc. IMO, I wouldn't want to surf the internet on a tiny little phone that I can barely see. A laptop with a 15+ inch screen will do me a lot better and probably run faster.

So your cellphone cost you more than the project car you are working on? Interesting.

If you like the phone and you feel its worth the $500 than thats all that really matters. I would'nt buy it, but thats partially because I break all my phones (into pieces), so I stay simple.

25832, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by Weezle745, Jul-09-07 08:30 PM
I got it today. Paid $647 after taxes. To me, I feel it was worth it because for work and school, I constantly need to be in touch with email and if I want to leave work for the day early, I NEED to be able to use my email and have full access to our secure server. Something I could never do on my Verizon eNv. Sure it got me on the internet and I could read emails, but that was about it. Now I can be at Disneyland and "working".

25840, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by KaptainMyke, Jul-10-07 04:21 AM
I want an iPhone soooo bad, but I'll never buy one as long as it stays on the AT&T network. I will never leave Verizon. No dropped calls, crystal clear, never a problem since 1999.
I hate Houston Cellular / Cingular / PrimeCo / AT&T. pffft
I'll stick with my $400 LG VX9800 vcast phone until iPhone makes it's way over to Verizon. (mine was free due to loyalty since 1999)

25853, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by goalie40, Jul-10-07 10:19 AM
verizon is making the google phone they passed on the iphone apple offered it to them first. Verizon can kiss my ass when I moved to hawaii we called them to let them know they said my acct was fine. After a month of using the phone we get a $1400 bill, we had a cali plan and was roaming the whole time. BS they made us pay 1200 because the notes on our acct said we where told we would roam too bad they never told us but im sure my 1200 helped send one of there kids to college.

$400?? What the heck? I bought a VX9900 (eNv) for $150 a few months ago.
In no way does my vx9900 ever compare with my iPhone tho. iPhone is expensive but worth it.
|
25875, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by KaptainMyke, Jul-11-07 03:04 AM
Yeah I got my VX9800 when they barely came out, and retail was approx $400. Of course, I didn't actually pay that, though.
Man I can't wait to hear more about this "Google Phone". very interesting. Exellent.

LG KE850
The "PRADA" Phone... oh yeah....
So check this out:
WIKIPEDIA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LG_Prada_(KE850)
iPhone controversy LG Electronics has claimed the iPhone's design was copied from the LG Prada. Woo-Young Kwak, head of LG Mobile Handset R&D Center, said at a press conference, “We consider that Apple copied the Prada phone after the design was unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006.”<3><4>
LG later claimed that Apple stole both the ideas and concept of the Prada phone. A lawsuit by LG had been rumored prior to this announcement; <3> however, LG has remained silent on whether or not they will file a lawsuit.

It does sport Darwin. I may have to pick up a new iPod when the hacks start rolling out. I've always hated the ipods, i have a zune. But this new one is flat out awesome. Too bad its still over priced.

the ipod touch? Dont bother lol. Why spend $399 on a 16gb ipod, when you can spend $349 on a 160gb regular ipod. Or just get the $399 8gb iphone, then you get a phone, bluetooth, constant internet, ect along with your music.
You should really hold out on it, until they offer decent memory space. 16gb just isnt enough music lol. i maxed my 30 out in no time, time to move up to the 80, or even 160.

on my 4 gig I have 2 one hour tv shows the famly guy movie and 15-16 full albums of music and room for a movie or two left. You are paying for the screen on the ipod touch and its worth it. It is hard to watch 4 gigs of content in a day let alone 16. my chick has a nice video ipod and I dont like the screen too small
|
27123, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by edxmon, Sep-10-07 06:58 AM
If I want a big screen Ill just use my PSP, my phone also uses a Ms and I have a 4 gig for both so I can put like 4 complete movies on each, and swap 'em on the run.
|
27132, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by KaptainMyke, Sep-10-07 09:13 AM
I got 3 full length dvd movies on my vcast phone right now, too. I used a converter for my dvds to squeeze the entire discs to 125mb movies. (3GP format):
Big Lebowski Grandma's Boy Disturbia

27259, RE: my first post with my iPhone Posted by Fallen4ng31, Sep-14-07 03:54 AM
I'm sorry, but the iPhone is junk. The audio quality (for phone calls) is absolutely awful. Why drop $500 for a 4 gig video ipod? Buy a PSP. It does all the same things for $150, plus it plays games has wi-fi, and is GPS capable...Just put in a 4 or 8Gb memory stick, add custom firmware, and presto you've got a fully moblie entertainment center; for a fraction of the cost, and with a much larger screen. Then buy a phone, and still have almost $200 left over.
