25667, Calling all who love DSM's Posted by TKI, Jul-02-07 12:59 PM
Sport Compact Car is wanting input for their next project car, and said that they have had request so far for J-Body's and DSM's. They say that the response for J-Body's has been overwhelming, but I think that we could overwhelm them with responses for DSM's.
I have done sent them about a page and a half of why they should make a DSM their next project, and I think that if they see a big enough voice from us then they will almost have to do it.
I mean come on, who wants to read about bunch of cavaliers :shrug ???? That should be enough to make everyone want to write in.:thumbsup

Neat, I get that magazine! Their recent project cars have bored me (I mean what was their last one)? A miata? I always look for DSM's in the magazine but haven't seen too many in the past few years. :( I might just have to get to typing them. When will they decide?

Yeah...saw that too. I can't see them doing a DSM because to them, for the most part, 4G63 = EVO...and they already had to give their last one back.

Um, SCC has done several project DSMs.
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0302scc_1993_mitsubishi_eclipse_gsx/index.html http://www.roadraceengineering.com/projectEclipsesideBar.htm http://www.roadraceengineering.com/FocusOnCockpit.htm http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0403scc_dyno_challenge/ http://www.roadraceengineering.com/evo/scc-mrstg1.htm
Not to mention all the 420a coverage (SRT4).
They haven't done any Cavalier projects that I'm aware of (but I dont get the magazine and don't care about american cars). The ecotech is a badass platform with a lot of potential, the tech trickles down into Solstice/Sky/Sunfire/Cobalt applications and they finally have support from names you might recognize.

I'd rather see a magazine cover something new instead of rehashing an old platform we already know how to build.

In my letter it talked about doing a 420a because most of the Eclipses/Talons produced from '95-'99 are 420 cars.
4g63's are the pooh-pooh, but I would really like to see a magazine do a really insane 420a just to show people that they can also be capable performers.

how about one of the old school 2.4 guys send them in their build so they can do one too.
What do you think a 2.4T eclipse build would do for this community.

I get import tuner in the mail every month and I get so freaking tired of evo, 240sx, wrx, or civic hatch builds. We need something different I almost dont care what it is anymore as long as its not 1 of those.
Ohh and btw! who the hell wants see a cavalier build? Funny thing is I have never even seen a cavalier that was not automatic. Although, I know they make them. Guys shouldn't drive sunfires, cavaliers, or cobalts. They are girly cars.
