25103, First Ticket Today
Posted by Shadow2877, Jun-12-07 07:03 PM
Hey guys,

After 3 years of driving I got my first ticket today, I ran 2 stop signs back to back and the cop pulled me over and said loudly "Do stop signs not apply to you?" I replied "They do, sir" after that he went to the car took about 15 mins and came back, turns out he could only write the ticket for 1 sign since the second one was across city borders (I live between Arlington and Grand Prairie) So I took my first ticket, clicked my seatbelt in (thank god he didnt see that either) and drove off.

I took it better then I thought I thought it could of been a hell of a lot worse, I could have got pulled over for speeding/no seatbelt or got into a wreck. I know I should have stopped at the sign, but my girl was waiting for me at her house and I was a anxious to see her, you guys know how it is.

Owell, I will pay 140 next week and call it a day I guess, Just got some money for a old 16G turbo so it shouldnt be to big of a deal, just sucks that I have to pospone the rest of my suspension work for a week.

Drive safe,
-Cody

Forget the stop sign ticket, the cop should've wrote you an 'unnecessary ink' citation. Thats just crazy dude.

Lol yea the stop sign runnin was unessasary, I should have noted that it was 1-2 in the morning so, there wasn't any traffic, even though thats no excuse. I dont want you guys thinking its in a middle of a nice populated neighborhood and I come barreling through it not watching where im going, it was a small bridge across the high way.

As for the tattoo, I have gotten nothing but praise from all the car tuners in the area. Idk I think you just have to really be into your car in order to understand the passion behind it. I was talking to a girl who owns a 79 Trans Am the other day, at first she thought I was crazy for getting it but then when she thought about it, she to, would get the symbol of her car on her, just because she loves working on it so much.

Anyways, you all drive safe!

Lol, I love these cars, I admit they can be a bitch to work on, but with the proper setup and maintenance they can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

Yeah. You're right. Girlfriends who can't wait the extra thirty seconds it takes for you to stop at two stop signs, for whatever reason, are the ones who will wait five years for you to get out of prison for vehicular homicide and stand by you when you're broke the rest of your life, paying the victim's family what the court awards them in the civil suit.

Dude. Seriously. Get your head straight. Damn.

Maybe next time a semi truck will give you the ticket. Then you can work on traction in the hospital physical therapy room.

i second brian (driggs). there isnt a reason in the world i can think of to be running stop signs. even in an emergency your just asking to make it a bigger one. and certainly not over some girl. youll find that 99% here are all for obeying the laws so youll find little sympathy here for things like that. as a matter of fact, youll find just the opposite as your beginning to find out. and not 1 but 2? whew, now i know why my insurance increases. squids and ricers who dont think the laws apply to them.

and you are lucky its "only" 140 and setting your turbo project back. you coulda ended up dead, killing someone else, or got your wallet drained for the next 20 years for maiming someone in an accident.

but as you say.. "oh well..."

I definately agree with the other guys, there is no excuse for breaking the law when behind the wheel. But, we have all done dumb stuff like that at one point or another.

Since it's your first offense I recommend going to court and telling them it was your first traffic ticket and that it won't happen again. They will increase the fine a little but you won't get any points. If you just pay for the ticket like you said, your gonna get points and a hefty insurance surcharge.

Yea like I said, it was stupid but its all good, luckly no one was hurt. Im sure everyone here has gotten a ticket befor, either for speeding, excesive show of speed, ect. Your right though about the court thing though since it is my first violation, they should ease up. I really am pretty careful on the road most of the time, except the occasional speeding on the highway. Its good that you all fallow the laws though, we were all 17 once though and im sure we are all guilty in some form or another. I learned threw a nice little fine not to do it again. I went by the stops signs again tonight and stopped :P

The only ticket i ever got in the 5 or so years ive been driving was for running a blinking red light at 2:00 am because i was both lost and tired. The other time i got pulled over was for doing 10 over after passing another car... I dont know man, doesnt seem worth it to me. A few days ago my mom hit a deer on this road i used to speed on ALOT, as did she. It was maybe 1:00 or 2:00 pm and this deer was just standing in the middle of the road, and she came up over a hill and hit it doing 70 mph, didnt even brake. She's alright tho, deer flew over the car and theres just damage to the hood and front bumper. That shit is scary, man. "When we forget, life reminds" -Damageplan

Basically the SAME EXACT thing that happened to me in the eclipse in january. Deer ran right in front of me though, didn't see it. I hit it doing 70 as well and it flew over my car too. Only front end is damaged and now I'm in the process of fixing it up. Talon is back to stock to sell.

Back on topic though, I will agree that running two consecutive stop signs just because you wanted to get home to your girlfriend is just dumb. I always stop at stop signs even if I don't see any cars on the road. You never know when a cop is hiding out somewhere (I know this too well).

Yea he was hiding good to, He was in the newly constructed apartments across the street. Hiding behind some wood or something, and then as soon as I did what I did, he poped out and snagged me.

There was another straight away I saw a while back, where lots of kids race on. There was a cop on one end of the street hiding over the curb in some bushes, everytime someone came by speeding he would radio another cop at the end of the street waiting in the parking lot, so by the time you got to the end, there was already someone waiting for ya.

Weak. My first was for 67 in a 45, but I fought it and only paid court fees, 0 points.

I raise you 88mph in a 50 'racing' a friend aka being an ass and the cop let me off with a warning.

1000hrs - 97 in a 55.
1028hrs - 80 in a 55. (same day)

I almost lost my license on that day and missed a tuition payment because I had to pay the tickets. You were saying?

We're not saying nobody here has ever fucked up or done anything they knew they shouldn't, but most of the time, it's people driving faster than the law allows and they get the pinch for it.

Without getting too deep into semantics, doing 10-15 over on the open road is a lot different than running stop signs. Highways outside of California do not have cars or people crossing at 90* to the main direction of travel. That's why stop signs and lights are there, boss. Because someone or something might be crossing your path. Unless it's a chicken, you don't want to catch anything up in your grille.

I was driving into the sun one evening this week and flat out ran a stop sign. As soon as I was in the intersection, I saw the sign. I about shit myself because, "Why the fuck wasn't I paying more attention?"

Just be careful.
