I figured this would have been posted already.

Just thought I'd share.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread about something like this a couple months back, but I don't think it was a Microsoft app. Did Microsoft buy them out?

This was just released by MS, so any previous post was probably some other vendor.

Its been around for a while. Microsoft has been developing the concept since around 2000-2001. If you check the Origins link on the Microsoft link you posted you can get a brief overview.

Also many tech sites such as www.gizmodo.com & www.ubergizmo.com have been following the story for quite some time now. I wouldn't exactly call it "just released" but maybe "just released to the idiotic masses"

Someone linked to a video a while back of one of the guys who helped come up with this sort of thing at a tech show playing around with it. I don't recall any mention of MS in the presentation. ;)

Still, pretty cool until your mom sits down on the sofa and "Weapons of Ass Destruction 19" resumes where you left off last night...

The surface itself is built to have things placed on it. I'm sure it's well protected.

Ends up it doesn't use a touch screen at all, it uses 5 cameras built into the lower part.
