24509, Wiki contributions... HOW-TO ARTICLE IS DONE!
Posted by DR1665, May-28-07 12:54 PM
We know there have been a number of people who have contributed to the Team 2GNT Wiki since we took it live some months ago, but I don't think these guys get nearly as much credit as they deserve. If you've submitted anything at all to the wiki, put "I contributed to the wiki!" in your sig to help generate awareness of the wiki.

If you think you don't know enough to help out, you'd be surprised at some of the blank pages we've still got out there that you could add to. From simple definitions to the most advanced technical subjects, it's all there and growing by the day. This is your opportunity to put your name in the books as being a contributing part of the DSM community.

For those who have contributed so far, thank you a million times over. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated, not only by the Site Team, but by those people who find the solution to their problem in a wiki article you wrote.

Press on.

So this is what that's about, I saw it in Mikes and then yours Driggs and was wondering what the hell was up with it. My turn.

Would be nice if everyone added a link to their member page in your sig. Easy to see mods, see if you live nearby, etc.

I wrote a very detailed How-To back when I did my front and rear talon>eclipse conversion with pictures and all. I meant to add it to the Wiki, or make a Wiki, whatever.. but never figured it out. How do I do it? I'd like to contribute :)

1. Log into the wiki (same as the forum)
2. Navigate through the wiki to where you think the write-up would make the most sense (easiest to find). Consider www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=Exterior.
3. On that page, look to the top left of your screen and click "Change Content." This will allow you to edit the page.

***Take note of how tags are used in the wiki. When you enter the edit mode, you can see what makes the title bold and red, what makes the links work, and so on.***

4. Insert your link where you feel appropriate on the page, making sure to include a description, then click the "Update" button at the bottom of the page. You will be returned to the page, now with a link to your article shown.
5. Click the link and you will find a blank wiki page ready for your article. Simply click the "Change Content" link again, and paste your article.

***You can upload your images to 2gnt.com itself, so they will stand a better chance of making the long haul.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup

EDIT:
www.2gnt.com/?d=2GNT_Member_FMIC_Setups Stuff like this is why we made the wiki. There is so much information on this page without there being a shitton of text. Wow. First rate, you guys. First rate. :thumbsup

DR1665 - Thanks for the guide, when I have time later I'll try to figure it out. Is there a limit to how many pictures I can upload onto this site to use in my Wiki? I forget how many pictures I have in it, but there are a few. Also, I usually document most of what I do to the car, at least larger projects, and take plenty of pictures. So in the future I'll probably have more write ups involving my turbo project.

DarkOne - No that's not mine. If you have a chance, or DR1665, or whoever, check out page 3 on my Cardomain site. That is my writeup, it's lengthy but very detailed and I bet my girlfriend could follow it and do the conversion. Just glance through if you don't mind and tell me if you think it's worth adding to the Wiki.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, that looks like a VERY nice writeup. If you would like, I could probably put it in the Wiki for you since I don't have anything really to do and it would let me kill some time (damn days off from work haha).

Thanks, when I did the conversion back in December, I figured others might run into the same problems with the higher mounting brackets and rewiring of the tail lights as I did, so why not share my experience. Plus I pay close attention to detail so it wasn't much effort to write it all out once I was done.

Alright, if you're bored tomorrow shoot me a PM with your email. I can either send you the pictures that way or I think I have them uploaded on photobucket and you can pull them off there. I'll give you the links if they're on there. I guess you can just copy/paste the text from Cardomain.

SO you're saying my write-up on the zeitronix install is too wordy huh? :P

I might take a bunch of pics and do a detailed write-up on changing the HG and installing head studs soon since I'm not a huge fan of the manual b/c I really need to see things to do them. I've gotta make sure I do it right though before telling people it's the way to do things. LOL

No problem Chris. If there is something you don't like, feel free to edit it however you want.

No it looks great. I had some time this afternoon and actually looked around at everything in the Wiki and maybe next time I'll be able to make my own haha. I did notice however than I messed up when making my final wiring diagram picture. Black and Green wires are backwards, but no biggie, it should be obvious to whoever is following it.

One of the great things about the wiki, is that you have constant editing capabilities. You can fix or change anything after your initial post.

NEW WIKI ARTICLE(s)!

Jamie (jack_of_trades) wanted his 420a-sleeper articles hosted on 2GNT, so I took the time today to transfer them all and format them for our wiki.

http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=Project%20420a%20Sleeper

VERY comprehensive fuel writeup (Part 5) with great information, links, and pictures. Thanks for everything Jamie :thumbsup
