Ok, here's the deal. I've given up on this one, maybe some fellow computer nerds can help.

I can backup my dvd movies all day, make dvd data backups, photos, files, website backups.... no problem, in NERO 6. Burner works fine.

(Actually, I have 3 burners, 2 are in another system. Both systems have this same problem.)

I put in 3 different brands of music or data CDR blanks, and NERO or WMP keeps saying "Please insert a blank CD-R disc".

What gives? Nero and WMP? Both keep refusing me to burn a music cd. I've been able to burn music cds all day long in the past, but now I can't.

Help!

See if there's new firmware. Usually, if burners stop recognizing discs, I just get a new burner. For $30 why pull your hair out?
Just out of curiousity, what programs are you using to encode DVD's? I'm having trouble with alot of the new releases. I usually had good luck with DVDShrink or a combination of ANYDVD and DVDDecryptor but every once in awhile, the give me trouble and won't let me make an .iso.

Bingo.

I need to just take out some cash at an atm and pay for some new software, I think.


As for the burners and firmware...I'll look into that. Why is this? Because of new blank media? Blank cds should just work, right?

If it's firmware, it should be on the company's site. IT will reflash the drives for you.

Look to see if you know the brand of the burner.

I installed all 3 firmwares on all 3 burners.

Nothing.

Still says in WMP or Nero "Please insert a blank cd-r disc".

I'm so frustrated now. There's nothing wrong with the drives! It's the stupid discs. It's like I need to buy old discs or something now, or update my burners? That's bullshit.
