Oh snap, pretty nifty, Im a complete N3wb when it comes to photoshop, I use this Arcsoft software that came with my laptop. forget what it called. But how long did it take you to do that? I wanna photoshop the rims I want, and maybe even the paint job into my car, so I dont have to wait to know how itll look :)

I've got that Arcsoft and have played with it before, this is much easier to use.

It probably took me about an hour but I was getting used to the program and playing with it a bit although I haven't played with changing colors yet

Photoshop dominates and destroys all and consumes anyone who uses it. Beware.

I didn't read the ignore the spare rim in the picture piece and was like woah... babe (wife) come look at this.. "tell me what you see in this picture" I thought it was the shadow's wheel and it looked bad ass...

I later read " ignore the spare rim in the picture" DAMNIT
its a wheel not a rim btw ;)

How do I change the color of something, but keep the shading/lighting effects on it? I wanna see my car painted solid RED!

Use the recolor tool and change the tolerance (start low and go high)

I was actually just playing with this I started with a white evo and got to here:

But IDK how to get the rest of it colored b/c I am at 100% and no more will color :shrug

GIMP is the only way to fly. I've been using it for several years. One of these days I will learn to harness it's power though. For now it's just really easy to resize, trim, crop, whatever.

Gimp is OK, but after using photoshop for a while the two don't compete, I get adobe products for really cheap (im adobe certified for all CS2 products) though my graphic arts major. If you dont feel like buying the stuff just get use a torrent

Well for someone who does very little photo editing, I feel that GIMP is great for me. I'm sure that if I were going to do this for a living or if I were in school to be a graphics design major I would use photoshop.

For those of us who don't condone piracy =P gimp is perfectly awesome.

Illustrator kicks ass, I dont know if you have ever worked with gradient meshes, but them + pen tool + 3D revolve is sex, I don't even know of another good vector draw program out there, not that are free at least, you should just torrent it...if you condone that sort of thing, but if you want i will pick up a form from school Monday for you.

For a free vector draw program I would suggest Blender.

http://www.blender.org/

Unless I am misunderstanding the whole vector drawing suite.
