22373, How to grind stainless steel. Posted by eclipse982nrRST, Mar-22-07 08:31 AM
Trying to grind some stainless steel and its taking forever! Just trying to see if anyone has any good methods or products that they use to grind it down.
I am using an angle air grinder with 60grit discs and its taking a long ass time.
Any input would be appreciated.

The same way you grind mild steel. Grinding is usually not a fast process.

Definately not, we got guys in the shop at work that grind thick steel on tower baseplates/gussets...and it slows shit up when someone doesn't follow a weld symbol.

You know not to use any wheel/disc on stainless that has been used on any other metal correct? Just want to make sure because it would be a shame if you went to all that trouble just to have it rust on you from contamination.

I do hope he knew what you just said, I'de hate to see one of Mike's projects end up in the crapper, specially if its on his car.
