Finally got around to installing my hatch. I had to have the the glass place remove my old glass cause there was no way I was going to get it out myself, and belive me I tried! They told me they didn't guarantee it from breaking too so I said if it did break I wasn't buying a replacement from them, just to be sure, lol. Putting it in the new hatch wasn't bad at all though, although my hands are still kinda sore from squeezing the urethane stuff.

Pretty slick. That definately shaved some weight off. Although I think it looks kinda awkward with the CF on the back end. I probably would have had it painted.

look at the close up pics, it's candy coated without the base, looks absolutely sick

I've been thinking alot about how I want it painted. I'm either going to do a black top/red bottom or candy red with just the candy sprayed on the carbon parts like said above^^. But paint is a long ways down my list right now. I gotta finish my turbo build!! As far as the taillights,I bought some tinted ones off Ebay that looked awesome but the finish started coming off cause someone didn't know how to prep them properly, but I do plan on putting solid black tinted tails back on when I get a chance to get some tint spray and do them myself the right way. Thanks for all the advice and compliments guys, I don't know what I would do without this forum!

Looks pretty nice, but you need to take off those pieces of the stock wing to really make it stand out. I'd also do something about that gas door, but that's just personal preference.

If you find a set of REAL carbon fiber taillights let me know, these are just the black ones. I HATE that fake carbon look alike junk,lol. That's just my opinion though. I wish Carbonwerks was still around, they screwed me out of a cf triple gauge pod when they went bankrupt or whatever happened to them!?!?

Where do you get these, and how much? That would look pretty swanky with the black roof of the Talon, and I'll probably buy a hood to match, along with fenders and door skins if SquidSkins is still around... painted of course.

I think they would look good ONLY on a black car or a Talon with a black roof, etc.

It just clashes too much with the red if you ask me. The spoiler sides need to go ASAP along with the tail lights.

For weight reduction on a car which will be racing, it looks bad ass. If you're a 5spd, you can take about 300lbs out of the car by removing the back seat, spare, jack, trunk panels, etc. By replaing the hatc like that, I'd venture to say you might have taken another 50lbs out of the car. This was no doubt a decent investment on your part and I salute you for doing it. Not many have.

Your next step would be to replace the front fenders and hood with CF if you haven't already. You might also invest in a lightweight race bucket for the cockpit. Installing the full Squidskins CF body kit for the 2GB Talon is a documented 600lbs of weight reduction. If you can get 300lbs out of the interior on top of that, even all motor, you would start to see some serious benefits.

Leave it all CF and unpainted for the time being while you test and tune with it. Ditch those Altezzas, though. I mean, damn. ;)

It's been a long time coming, but eventually, someone here is going to get all that CF stuff on the car for the weight reduction benefit instead of the "tool" factor. It only looks cool when it serves a purpose, right?

2GB GST - 220hp/2700lbs = 0.08hp/lb
2GB GS - 140hp/2700lbs = 0.05hp/lb
2GB GS - 140hp/1800lbs = 0.07hp/lb *** 900lbs weight reduction yields GST power-to-weight ratios. Stock GSTs run mid-14 second quarters. Food for thought. Theoretically, with a stock engine, you could click off low 14s with just a lot of weight reduction. Just goes to show that there is no reason why someone looking to build an inexpense, FWD track car couldn't have a LOT of fun with a 2GNT.

Not sure if it was just the fenders I had or not but My CF fenders *felt* like they weighed the same as stock. I held one in each and and couldn't tell a difference. There is not much to the fenders, just really thin sheet metal...

True. Not much to them. Personally, if I were to attempt this level of weight reduction, I'd be going with fiberglass for starters. The entire Squidskins kit shaves a proven 600lbs off the car, so evne if the fenders, together, are a 1-pound reduction, it goes towards that. 600lbs is no laughing matter. Especially on fatties like the 2G. :P

But what are the costs involved? I assume it'd be much cheaper to go the fiberglass route, but any ballpark idea?
